The shots are ok but the design is really outdated.

outdated i agree, but many studios are still doing these and plenty of couples still sign up.

It's interesting to note that the makeup & hairdo styling are typical Malaysian , including the wedding gown & dresses designs ( you can cross-check with local makeup artists comments and their works ). Even the modern Taiwanese makeup styling ( which was once shun ) has move forward in leaps-and-bounds.

Same goes to the design & layout of the album pages, including the graphics elements and the etched-out portraits effect pasted over the a stock-image of seascape or landscape ( ... have you guys seen any actual bridal shoot done over actual seascape or scenery backdrop ? with good natural lightings and beautiful locales ? ) These are a quick-fixed methods of putting 'a hot sellable concept and commodity' into the world of commercialism of the Bridal photo industry -- a sad but a true fact.

I believe that these "80's styling & concept" or outdated ( some have call it ), are beginning to take center stage even in India & Indian bridal photo Album photo & concept ... ( Do a search and you'll know ).

Anyway, like all fashions, design and graphics, photo presentation trends, it needs to take cue from the leaders of the industries, and rest of the guys follow.

However, many followers are looking at the wrong directions -- taking cue from the "out-dated" Mass Market-Makers.

Having said that, it's still the Wedding and Bridal Buyers whom have a choice of the "Cheap-&-Follow-the-Rest-package" ( aka economical packages ) verses the "Premium-&-One-of-Kind-package" ( aka Designers' Labels & Branded Works Packages ).

At least 70% ( majority ) of today's Bridal Service Buyers will fall into this group - "economical packages" .

While the 10% ( Minority Elite ) will falls into the Premium category -- whether they have good taste or Not is not important.

And the remaining 20% of these Buyers are the People who can distinguished Good Design & Works from the So-so, and willing to fork-out and budget for these privileges.

Remember, good design and artwork is not a commodity -- and neither is a must-have -- But for those who can appreciate fine creations and the art of professionalism, will seek out those fellas that provide such premiums.

Interesting comments regarding this series and we do appreciate the feedback given.

We were inclined to do the more modern style but then the client insisted on the style that was posted here in this thread. When we tried to move them towards the photojournalistic styles, they were rather upset and couldn't seem to be able to accept the concept.

Hence sometimes clients needs and wants have to be taken into consideration.

That said, we did have a number of their friends who came over to us asking for the same or similar type of poses for their wedding.

What can we say?

I agree that the "paymaster" must like it..

no offense to the TS...everyone needs to earn a living.
If I am a full-time PG, and I get requests to do such stuffs...there probably going to have a few solutions..

a) if i am already earning good $, i will skip this job..cos' it is not my style and doing it placing my name on the photos means endorsing them...and will actually affect my reputation..

b) i am not earning enough...and i just do whatever that comes along....cos bread is more impt than passion and personal style.

And no offense again, jetfynn..if i were you...and if i dont like this series of photos cos' i know it is really very outdated and "too-malaysian" for local market and totally not my style....

i will not even post it up online..
cos' inevitably...your name endorsed the photos...and hence, your reputation is made up of what you endorse..

since you post online, i guess you felt that you must be proud of your works.

Dear TS,

Don't get me wrong ... I think technically, you are pretty good with the photo-shoot -- good exposure and control, and even the Outdoor fill-in were quite balance.
( Just that some of the poses are quite cheezy and predictable ).

The point i am bringing across is that we who are in the Bridal Fashion, Graphics and Photo Art Industry must lead, or at least get inline to the present contemporary fashion trend.

If not, we will never grow or move forward, and sooner or later you'll get stagnant and outdated.

If you put-up 'such' portfolio of works, be prepared to attract 'such' customers to your doors. And from one such customer, will lead to another ... you will never be able to have a break-thru, or a style that you could call your own -- and make a difference in the Bridal Circle.

If money is the motive for such works, then sure you could do it -- but don't put-it up online for promotion or putting your Name/Signature on it -- becos it will engraved on the peers' minds of what kind of Photographer/Artist you are, and a comparison or reference will be made in the future.

Nevermind, it will never be too late to re-start your strategy of re-making oneself, where you want the world to remember you -- of what you want to be remembered or to be recognized.

Good luck !
