Another shoot to death photo. Just for fun. Please comment.

3 Photo was taken each with a 1 stop difference. -1 to +1. Aperture F16. No filters used.

Edited using photoshop using layers.

I think there is nothing much to say about the composition as this has been seen just too many times (If you do have any suggestions pls just fire ahead). Probably just let me know if the adjustments on the layers looks acceptable.

(e.g. Which part should have more details, where should be darker. Too much details, too littler detail etc etc. Any thing at all.)

Like you said; this is cliche but admittedly, this is one of the nicer version of the scene. Your next challenge would be finding angle that no one has used before.

very nice exposure via pp. and sharpness

may i suggest 2 way of cropping

1) crop away the right until just before hitting the may bank building.

2) 1st crop away the "bridge" and then abit of the bottom until water touches the stairs.

:thumbsup:good layering skills! can share the work flow or any URL where you learned this?

very nicely executed shot of a cliched scene.. but it still is nice. :)

one suggestion, shift this frame slightly to the left, so that we can see some space after the spurt from the merlion ends :)

fantastic pic indeed:) its like a movie shot.exposure is dot on for me:think:but wat others like to see in detail i cant say;) i am glad u got it copyrighted;) my only distracting part if i can say that........had it been cropped or framed at the spot the jet of fountain water is falling in the water:think:and forming the word V.... cz it wud keep the viewers eye constantly in the frame.

WOW!!! I love this picture alot!! I aim to be able to take such wonderful nightshots as i gain in experience.

I'm really curious, how do you achieve the silky water effect? Did you use a slow shutter speed? Or is it some special filter that you use? I liek how the scene behind is crisp and the water has a very smooth feel to it....soe night shots have that very "jarring" and hard feel, but yours in in fact. very comforting to look at!

I think its wonderful. Bravo! =D

Hi Dennis,

Did try on what you suggested. Does give a different feeling. Will keep in mind the different perspectives of looking.

As as KIT mentioned, really must try to challenge finding another viewpoint of the merlion! lol...

& Thks.

Hmm .. I am a impatient person. I keep browsing on books. Pick up a little here & there. Think its lots of experimenting. What i did was to remove the dark layers and allow the bottom brighter layers to show up. You could do it the other way round. Remove the dark and allow the brighter part to show.

Just depend how you place the layers.

Just takes a little patience. Not that much skill involved :)

How do you keep the people sharp while making 3 slow exposures?

night86mare, SSPING83: Will take your advise. Next time round will try to include a little more of the left space so that the end of the water can be seen.

newlife : thanks 4 ur comments. Will look into that.

scionfire : Shots taken at 1 to 5 seconds. Like you said, just set a slower shutter speed and u have it. You can definitely take such shots. In fact everyone can. Just have a good tripod and wait for the right timing. Not too early (Too bright) and not too late (Too dark. Will hav black sky). and Viola. You have it.

You took it at the correct time of the evening, you have a superb evening sky :)

Surely the Merlion should be white, or did they have yellow illumination that evening?

I agree with that comment about cropping a bit off the right side.
