Well, B&S do carry such risks. My lesson learnt was I will insist on having his/her hp number as i will give mine, too. Sometimes, it is good to have some conditions (as in transaction T&C) as it helps sieve out the bad buyers/sellers.

If there are such buyers, there will also be such sellers. So it is not always the buyers at fault. Quite afew of my friends gotten fake sandisk cards already. One of my friends even bought a stack of fake 8gb sandisk cards. No show is only a small loss to you. Try to get over it.

It depends, it may not be a gray area or no obligations.

Depending on how the exchange of correspondence went, there could already be valid offer and acceptance and therefore a contract concluded.

sadly, nothing that is remotely legally binding; net-oriented exchanges that have actually warranted punishment seem to be of the "collect money and no show" variety - even when the goods are not what has been promised as in the case of many local online shops.. a simple qualifier on the shop website that goes along the lines of "you may not get what you see" resolves it all.

nobody force you to deal in Singapore.
When you deal overseas, you should already consider all the risk.
If only doing business with overseas counterpart is so easy, everyone will become rich already.

:nono::nono::nono:

a word is a word, if there has been communication and promises that one will be there, then whatever the case it is WRONG to go back on the word.

the risk dealing overseas is equitable to the risk dealing in singapore, especially when transportation being so convenient these days; we have people jet setting around the world like nobody's business.

Which part of my sentence saying that it is NOT WRONG to do such a thing??

Be it dealing locally, or overseas, there's always a risk buyer not turn up. And in this case the risk become higher because it involves buyer from overseas. It's just plain silly dealing overseas, but not factoring this risk. Not everything is as smooth as we think.

And labelling the person's doing as cheating is not appropriate. That's all I'm trying to say.

... my 2cents..

The seller had formed a opinion that he was cheated.

We have to hear from buyer before we can come to a conclusion.

1000 and one thing can happen between 5 and 12 Apr 08!

Assuming all said is true, all the legal mumbo jumbo aside, I just want to say i am disappointed that as humans of higher cognitive abilities we fall drastically short in ethics and common courtesy. I feel sad for all the effort the seller has gone through to uphold his end of the bargain. I can only offer my sympathy to your situation and my regret that we do live in such a world.

Such is life my friend. I just hope that anyone who does read this, understands the stress and unhappiness a selfish decision can cause. The best we can do is never be party to such irresponsible behavior.

You must know... on 12 april... i sms him/her again about dealing, and he said ok (send camera to singapore)... so i send it...

If you not trust me... i challenged PAUL LIM to explain on this thread...

I had a few cases before. Buyer who wants to buy but cannot commit. I even agree to his ridiculous payment in installments since he just had a new baby and might be financially tight. But after holding a few days for him, he told me his wife got it for him. Bullshit;(. WTB/WTS runs on a honorary system. But still I have better experiences than bad ones.

Wah lao...that is super duper damn jia lat. Does he consider u his finance company to pay in instalments??

Best response so far. Simple and nice. :)

Very sorry to hear about your encouter. I trust your experience is not fictional. We feel you. Any decent person will be upset. Self centered, selfish moron is everywhere. Most of us have a fair share of misfortune with human being once in a while. Life is as such. Important is you and your camera is still in one piece.

May all your wish come true and good luck in your future sale. :)

Thanks roy for assisting in splitting the discussion.

To the ThreadStarter – sorry to hear about this.

But yes, this happens and some forumers encounter this kind of Problems too, so just have to be extra careful. Most forum does provide the facilities for it’s forumers to trade in this kind of Buy/Sell Environment, but of course it’s still a dealing between the Buyer & the Seller. So they will warn Buyer/Sellers to be careful as this is not accountability of the Forum Administrator.

In any way, this matters will usually be settle privately outside the forum, at worst - becomes a civil matter.

I know you are very frustrated now, I can understand, maybe give the fellow a chance to explain himself here, but in anyway he should at least inform you beforehand for causing all the inconveniences to you…

Cool bro

Eric

It happens and in most cases we just forget about it and not make a fuss about it.

Local lingo here is the buyer has "aeroplaned".

It doesn't matter what nationalities and just because you deal with a Singaporean and you're an Indonesian.

You don't need to send a copy of your IC and passport to join this forum and for the buy and sell.

HTH.

Did he cheat you of your camera?

You are a hot tempered young punk.

CRONOLOGIZE:

I post this thread to tell unpleasant experience that I had recently with fellow clubsnapper

on March 15, 2008 I saw WTB thread by PAUL LIM. Since I have the same equipment that I want to sell, I start the communication with him and then the communication continue thru SMS and email

since I'm located in jakarta, I send the camera condition etc to his email. tell him about transaction method... and he agreed...

on 5th april, he CONFIRM the transaction. As at that time, I was away and only can delivered the camera on 12th april which he agreed.

On the day itself, when my brother bring the camera to singapore (from batam, which I send the camera to batam thru courier), on the day itself, he CANCELLED the transaction and said he already got the same camera. I felt cheated as I already spent time and money to send the camera to batam and he easily cancelled the transaction on the day.

In this thread, I'm going to ask again PAUL LIM...

NB: I have many transaction w/ clubsnapper before... but transaction are all clear, no problem like this...

I think it is understandable why Fumanchu had used the words "Cheated" (I'm sure he did not have mean't it as directly being cheated in a sense eg. sending items and not collecting $$$ by a Singaporean) - It's just a wrong choice of words usedhere by him (which is very common in any forum). Let's not pick words against someone who is just like any of us here (a human being) who is when angry at that speer moment just Voice out something out of Frustration....I am sure we can be more tolerant and understanding than that although this is a trivial matter which happens often even among Singaporeans here. Nevetheless it is a Bad-Experience yet uncontrollable depending on who we are trading with.

My personal opinion is - If I were to trade with someone here (buy/Sell) - I will look at the forumer credibilty here, by looking at his Post-Counts (though this is not full-Proof) but if he is a regular here - He is definetely not those (Fly-By-Night) Forumers who just comes in here - to make a quick sales/Buy and after that I dont see them ever again. Reputation is important here especially if this is a place that ones frequent always, it become their Cyber-Home.

Just be extra careful in our dealings as always..... Bro Fumanchu - there exist good and bad buyers everywhere, anywhere in any country... Sad to say, yes, you encounter a Bad experience here cause thats where you got the contact from. But try to be open here, free your mind, not all forumers here are like that too.

We are all Humans so let's learn our mistakes and we'll be wiser as time goes by.....This applies to me too - I'm still learning

No hard feelings - If you can, contact him again (if getting to hearing him out with a valid acceptable reason to you really makes you feel better - then contact him) but if I were you - I will let the matter rest - it's over after all now and you've made your point here and voice out all your discontentment already. Maybe deep inside, the buyer doesn't feels good too as he doesn't want the item anymore (but he had really change his mind during the last minute, but feel too bad to contact you, as it too late and you have already send the item to your whoever) - No face to call you (some people are like that- saying Sorry really seems to be the hardest words) - let it rest ok...relax and enjoy your weekend.

There is something you should not and never do here - I just saw it - you actually stipulated the Buyer Phone Number here (that's is his private number). It seems to me that you are really trying to get back at him out in the public here ... This is really very wrong of you, I hope you can edit and erase that as my personal opinion. It's not nice at all.

PS:- One thing that I've really learn and found out is that - What a person writes in a Forum sadly forms a perception of him/her, and usually/most ofently upon face-to-face meetup - you find the person to be a very nice person (it's really different) because there is a face to face contact.....and it's true they behave totally different, so I always tell myself not to judge a forumer (whoever that is posting, even though it doesn't sound right or good to me in a way) by making an impression (usually false) of him/her of whether he is good or bad - my experience tells me - most are very nice people...but again this is just my personal experience....just to share

Warmest Regards

Eric
