Want to ask the experience photographers to recommend a good diffuser for SB800...

any good diffuser that doesnt produce harsh flash ?

Can try the unobtrusive stofen omnibounce. Light small and effective.

Alternatively u can take a look at Gary Fong ( or other 3rd party ) diffusion domes.
Bigger and bulkier though.

Or u can DIY one..

I have a Stofen omnibounce and a Gary Fong LS... and I find the GFLS less harsh. I believe there are others out there like Flip-It Pro, which I have not tried.

i have the stofen omnibounce. it is the lightest and least embarassing omnibounce. it does the job.

sometimes i giggle silently when i see some photographers with their a4 size omnibounce/ching-teng bowl diffuser. eheheh

haha! yep... people do ask me what that thing is when I use the GFLS... and it does look like some tupperware or cheng teng bowl :bsmilie: But, at the end of the day, I am the photographer that is doing the shoot, and my goal is to get the best pictures I can for the people I shoot for ;)

Yes... I've tried this and it does produce an even-ness that is almost comparable to the GFLS. I did an event shoot with abetterbouncecard and was impressed with the effects.

You can buy the foam paper from Popular bookstore. Can't remember how much it cost liow...

I'm also a fan of ABBC esp the featherlite version. Very good for close shots of people and of dogs and cats because the centre strip is black, there's no direct light into their eyes and u don't get that weird reflective eyes thingy with their eyes..

No one diffuser able to pau sua pau hai

it depends WHERE you shoot,
indoor low ceiling, ceiling bounce the best.
normal ceiling, ceiling bounce plus built in bounce card the best
LS PJ, omnibounce work best in a enclose indoor area
large bounce card work best in more open space indoor area or outdoor close range

subject more than 15 ft away and no ceiling no wall to bounce, shoot with direct flash.

I tried comparing betw the 3 before,
The stofen is better than the original cap in terms of diffusion, the LS being the best but not by a big edge.
