Hi,

I just faced a problem with my Macbook, during surfing the web it just hangs, I couldn't quit firefox, so I had to push the on/off button to switch it off. After this when I want to switch it back on it shows a grey folder with a question mark.......

I assume it can't find the start up disk.....anyone can tell me how to start it up again before I am sending it to Apple? First the battery conked up after a few weeks, then this happens. My other Apple, an iMac G5, its screen shows numerous lines (now about 100 or so) just one month after the warranty was over, and Apple knows this particular batch worldwide has this lies problem, they won't do a recall......

I wonder why they have these special extended warranty programs, as if they know their machines will die after a year?????

Looks like these are my last Mac's :) too bad, I love the simplicity, but if the quality is so poor with such a hefty price tag, I feel taken for a ride almost!

And now a personal question:

You're not using a pink Macbook are you? :)
I only buy and use pink underwear!;)

Thanks for the link, I also found it, but after awhile it just stops working, need to start up again.......I wonder if these Apples always gives problems after thewarranty is over....cause that seems to happen my two Apple machines! I think I bought Lemons instead of Apples!

Basically I think it's powering up with system disk inserted and holding down shift key?

It's been a while I've used a Mac.

I was afraid these Apple repair people would find my pics of my pink underwear on my HDD!

Only changed to PC two years ago. I'll never want to touch a Mac again.

Freudian slip :bsmilie:

yup, good old freud - am still wondering why he associated smokers with some form of "activity".

Ok, Need to go to Apple. My Lemon ate the disc, stilll not starting up while pressing the C key, and now I can't get the disc out as well........

Don't want to connect the laptop to my iMac, i have enough of this Lemon. its battery was also changed within a few weeks of purchase.......

addiction? :)

no. It is depravity of oral gratification.

anyway, mac is only useful in the 80's. nowaday it is just a fashion statement. if you are young and trendy go for it. many who bought it will have to say oh, wow, so easy to use. but when I ask them to add a specify attribute in spotlight to do a search, 10 out of 10 are lost.

worst when I asked them to use a function in the preview to knock out the background of a photo. again 10 out of 10 failed.

I asked 3 parents to set parental control in their system, guess what they never even heard of it.

Thats the user though, not the system, ask most people to set parental control on a windows based system and you will get a similar response. You cant even knock out the background in windows preview, oh and not forgetting to add that there is no point searching on windows, you can find the file quicker by trawling through folders yourself.
