NUS is not top choice for Singaporeans anymore even foreigners....

People are preferring to do at NUS because of the old name only. But perfromance wise, other uni are excelling. But NUS still got much funds even not doing well....

Foreigners studying at NUS realised how rigid NUS system is..........compared to USA univ...

In 2004, a housecat named Colby Nolan was awarded an "Executive MBA" by Texas-based Trinity Southern University. The cat belonged to a deputy attorney general looking into allegations of fraud by the school. The cat's application was originally for a Bachelor of Business Administration, but due to the cat's "qualifications" (including work experience in fast-food and as a paperboy) the school offered to upgrade the degree to an Executive MBA for an additional $100. Singaporeans are more educated, more exposed now. They can see what standard NUS or other local universities are compared to the rest of the world. I believe most parents of my generation (ie whose kids may be going to uni in 10-15 years time) would prefer their kids to go to reputable foreign unis (Stanford, Princeton, etc) if they can, which is why all the financial planners are so successful in using the cost of overseas univ education as one reason why they should engage their services.

Lets put it this way-- objectively, if you compare MIT and NUS, how many believe NUS is better? However, for those who can't afford top overseas univ, then NUS is better than those unbranded overseas universities. It's cheaper, and at least has some standing with employers here.

maybe they dig up funny statistics and show how a lot more students are going to all the funny private schools reported a few days back :dunno:

if you ask me, unless one has no choice, for local education, for most courses (not all though) i would think that nus is still the best choice to make, despite its.. shortcomings shall we say

degree mills are a disgrace to the very concept of education

yar, make sure that your degree is of use in whatever place you wish to work in, not necessarily singapore. take already no use = waste money = waste time = better off starting work earlier
