All shots were taken only with the FZ50 + an UV lens. Some of the shots were taken using EZ ( Extra Zoom ). The bright blue screen was a challenge for the 1/1.8 inch sensor.

Actually I don't advise people to buy the FZ18 for the following reasons

  1. Zoom lever is abit stiff
  2. Can't use optical zoom when taking movie
  3. Can't attach an external flash ( no hot shoe )

If you want a smaller (DSLR-like) camera, why not go for the Canon S5 IS? :)

Hi
I recently got an FZ50.
Newbie here.
Brought my new toy to the airshow as well.
However was unable to produce the kind of shots you have taken.
I was using one of the presets (sports) during the aerial display, however the shots turned out very "grainy" or "noisy".

Could you advice?

Cheers

The Sports mode normally would increase the ISO to maintain the "sharpness" of the photo, I would advise that you use the "shutter-priority" mode while setting the ISO at 100.

Still experimenting around with the cam.

Both shots are taken hand-held, in close proximity using just a FZ50 w/UV Len
