I was wondering if there are any other free softwares great for editing multiple photos from DSLRs? I do not really like Picasa because the Auto Adjust feature is not accurate.

Any recommendations?

If you want something with an "Auto Adjust" and have it correct to what you would like, I doubt you would be able to find any software. Each photo should be treated differently and hence edited differently.

I used to use Picasa by Google and Picture Project by Nikon, but now I'm using Nikon's CaptureNX, which I find is a far superior photo editing tool. My friend uses Aperture on a Mac and I've seen that it is a great tool as well...

Is Nikon's CaptureNx free for download or I have to purchase it?

Capture NX is not free for download... you could try GIMP, probably the most advanced image manipulation program you can get for free... but like geraldkhoo mentioned, auto adjust is not going to be perfect for all occasions, even with Photoshop's auto adjustments...

is it in the sales package?

I got my CaptureNX as part of the package with the D300. I believe this is a promotion going on, not sure when it will end. To get the software itself is not cheap, and I think Nikon did a good move by bundling it together with the camera.

you can ask around and see if anyone who has bought their D3 or D300 doesn't want their CaptureNX... :)

If you wanna get one, check if John 3:16 (look for Samuel) has any in stock. The next place you can try is Lord's (look for Kelvin). Give them a call, check stock with them. The D300 has been a very hot selling camera, and I had to wait awhile to get it.
