I happened to get this shot at Queen Victoria Market. An old bicycle was tied to the polls, standing still among a moving crowd of people in a busy night market. I love this shot, though am not very satisfied with the name "In a moving world". Does anyone have any idea? Comments are appreciated.

Taken with a Canon Powershot A95, using a slightly long shutter time (1/8s)

err no comments yet :(

I guess the photo could be alittle bit brighter? :)
How about, "Time Stops For Those Who Wait" ?

Thanks for that :D

But my intention is that its not waiting. It's like something outstanding, still while the world is moving, a bit like resting...

A longer exposure time might have been better as it would give more "blur" to the moving objects (a.k.a. people), creating a better image of "standing still in a world that moves" - showing ironically that a bicycle, a conveyance, is stationary.

Really thanks =)

This is exactly what i thought. A bicycle standing while ppl moving. =)

Havent got a tripod at that time so i couldnt use a longer shutter time.. Will try it later. Thanks for your comment

Hello.. some newbie suggestions

Composition wise, I think a landscape format would be better. The bicycle should be placed on the 3rds with the rest of the background filled with moving people. You would need a longer shutterspeed, therefore, you need a tripod or something to rest your camera on. You can also shoot in RAW, adjust your aperture to the smallest(>F11), iso lowest so that shutterspeed is longer. A ND filter also can be used to lengthen the shutterspeed. Shoot in the evening when it's getting dark also helps to prevent your shoots from overexposure.

I really like the BnW feel to the pic. I think the bicycle fills up just too much of the photo, with the balance space being filled up with people. No breathing space, no artistc focal point in the photo. Good effort though.

Thank you for your comments. I'll come back to the market next week to try landscape format so that there'll be more space for the people. I'll remember my tripod. Hopefully that old bike is still there. If not I'll just use my own bike :D

i prefer portrait than landscape.

Landscape takes for the sake of the shape.
But u notice that the bicycle is not on full width... the angle is such that it appears shorter than usual and also is leaning against a vertical subject behind... yes that is a subject as well
so i guess portrait makes it stand out.

Thank you =)
