This is for those who have not used Google Maps or know of it yet.

The website is simple to use and understand

http://maps.google.com/

Use it once and never go back to streetdirectory again! Google Maps is ad free and has better, clearer instructions.

if you guys got a 3G phone, try the mobile version of google maps.

you dont even need GPS to tell where you are!

Google maps also does not tell you what buses there are in the area that you wish to go... :(

You forgot to mention the need for GPRS/3G so that you can use the Google map.

Unless you've fixed rate with unlimited use of GPRS/3G, the price of using it is not economical as 100 kb is $1, IIRC.

If you don't need a very detailed buildings and blocks location, Google map is good to go. Otherwise the Streetdirectory and SLA map is the way to go.

I like the concise way Google Maps gives directions in a visual, ad free way. Especially for a new driver like me, just got my license a week ago.

Neither does streetdirectory right?
Actually they do, but only with SBS bus, and... they give you some stupid route together with good ones. I use that together with SBS website and got a perfect bus route.

Pocket Streetdirectory is the way for me.... able to do search for landmarks and etc, fast clear loading times, no ads! =P

Yup yup still the best  :)

Actually, Streetdirectory does offer that function. I used to do filming when I was still a poly student so I relied that a lot.

I bought and used the StreetDirectory mapping software on my PDA.
I have stopped using it. It was designed to stop working after 1 year.
I must pay $$$ each year to either buy a new set of software, or pay for the new password. Even if I am perfectly happy with the slightly outdated map after new roads have been built. I cannot use the software anymore.

And they do not give a much lower fee like other software where you just pay for an Upgrade fee. (since you already bought the full older version package) You end up buying the updated software again at FULL price. I find this greedy.

I have asked around and was told KingMap software keeps working and there is no auto software crash date set for 1 year.

I have AGIS Navi mapping software (with GPS if your phone can handle it) and it too does not have a SILLY one-year autocrash date.

Also the Mighty Mind street directory has a map for the desktop and also the PDA in a CDROM. It is FREE with the hardcopy directory book. It also does not have an auto software crash date set for 1 year.

I really hope that all the above competitors and Nokia FREE Maps kick Street Directory.com out of this software business for good.
