"Attention please, the train at platform A is not for passenger service, please board another train"...
And here comes your friendly MRT staffs, moving in the moment the doors open to kindly request all passengers to leave the train... with whistles... "Beep, beep beep...." they goes...

Sure, there are some passengers who are not paying attention to the PA system or due to some other reasons, not responding to the advices, but isn't there a better (a more gracious) way of requesting the passengers to leave the train? :dunno:

Actually, yes.

They are herding Homo Sapiens, a specific breed to be exact - the Homonius Sapienus Singaporeanus - know to be indifferent to social grace, safety needs and to block all forms of entrances and exits of transportation and thoroughfares, especially during peak periods where herd movement is at it's highest in the smallest area of land, and through decades of acute conditioning, will instinctively block the all forms of entrances and exits, disabling other specimen to enter or exit a particular area. The situation is exceberated the more densly the concentration of specimen is in a confined area.

One scientist observed that Hom. Sap. Singaporeanius will almost maliciously advance and force their way into an entrance or crevice of limited dimensions, the more limited, the more vicious their efforts, even though they appear to be intelligent enough to understand that by so doing, they are blocking the only available opening at a certain point disallowing other specimen to exit a confined area, and this act actually prevents them from easily entering the space speedily - identified to be their original intention. It is a text-book example of the 'reverse application of intelligence' (ref: University of Newton Circus Hawker Center Intelligence Studies, Prof. Tan Ku Ku, circa 2009).

The Hom. Sap. Singaporeanus also suffers from a peculiar optical disorder in that even with fully functional vision, many specimen have been known to walk directly into the paths of others, or actually crash into other specimen even while looking directly at them, and to use all means of carriage like preambulators and baggage to block the particular part of a passage where other specimen needs to pass by, even if there is more space on another side closer to them, thereby causing great inconvenience, or even danger. This is especially apparent on weekends and during intense festive periods in the hearts of the most densely populated or transited shopping areas.

they weren't doing that when i was still around

meaning it didn't work, hee hee hee :bsmilie:

i do remember that there was once a train full of equipment.. it opened the train doors for a staff to put in things.. and lo and behold, people just followed him in, the poor man

A simple solution to this is to not open all the doors.......

Alamak, this type of things also common in many countries and not peculiar to Singapore.

Well said ... I cannot agree with you more.
Sometimes it gets so bad, I shudder at the thought of going out into those crowded places.
Especially with some desperate single aunties taking advantage of the situation and pressing their bodies against yours.
Very eerie feeling man ;(.
Makes my hair all stand up.

I understand how it feels to be a handsome man... :embrass::bsmilie:

Such announcements are pretty common, I guess it boils down to how graciously one takes the general announcement.

Occasionally, there are some people who simply refuse to move in, I'm not sure if there are demons, ghosts, spirits, Satan or Lucifer is there and that people are so terrified to move to the centre. Thus the announcements.

not sure.. but i don't think they can do that

but if you want to, they could probably revamp the whole system just so that people won't be herded in.. at a cost of higher mrt fares :bsmilie: so there is something to kbkb about still, yay

in any case.. if people LISTENED to announcements over the pa system, which actually works quite fine in terms of clarity.. such things won't happen
