I've tried out this lens during the Image Expo Singapore last week and image quality is pretty much similar to the non-VC version. I handheld it at 300mm (480mm equivalent on a 1.6x body), 1/10 and ISO 400, still pretty clear.

But this new lens has a larger filter size (67mm) and feels more solid as compared to it's older counterparts. Expected price approx. $800+

well personally, id rather that they put VC on the 18-200 or 18-250
i prefer the 18mm on the wide end over the 300 on the tele end (or course its best if they had both)
i do find tamron's image quality and aperture slightly lacking here, but its great for a lens at this price and such a wide range of focal length (+ VC now):D

Yupz, f/6.3 on the tele-end is a bit too much, f/5.6 at least still manageable. Imagine if Canon will produce a 18-200 IS similar to what Nikon did, it would be great!

If Tamron release 18-250 VC and price aroun $800 then it will be perfect!
