Hi all,

I've got some noob questions on understanding a lens specifications.

Q1: Say for lens like EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, does it mean the f/2.8 is the highest aperture value the lens can go?

Q2: For EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, what does "f/4-5.6" mean? That the max f value is variable?

Many thanks

1) Yes, largest aperture is f2.8 throughout the zoom range.

2) This means the largest aperture of f4 is only applicable to 70mm + a lil before it stops down accordingly to f5.6 at the zoom end of 300mm.

thanks for enlightening me! :)
