Photographing @ Indoor Stadium

Just being curious, a raise of hands how many people actually knows that "you are not allow to take photographs at Indoor Stadium Premises?" Which it means it included outside indoor stadium, the Grass field and promenade(wooden walkway beside kallang river)

I happen to have a photoshoot there and were chase out, according to the the security guards, "photography are not allow on the Indoor stadium premises". which I wonder, isn't Indoor stadium one of the Landmark of Singapore? So what happen to those people who took photo during events, tourist ad family outing photo shoots?

anyway one care to enlighten?

last time i was there for GCMA(Global chinese music awards)and was snapping happily away before the event started,walking around the stadium

Just managed to call the PR from Indoor Stadium, they said 'as long as if its within the Indoor Stadium Premises, no photography is allow. You'll have to apply for permit, and if its for commercial use, they'll charge you $1000 for the shoot'

Anyway, I saw the people at the restaurant in Indoor Stadium happily snapping.... I guess next time we'll all need to buy a cup of drink before we can shoot

no problem
but cannot go down the stairway with the chain into the water la

and i always see wedding photographers with their subjects on the bridge leh

From Security Guard
They said "Sorry you cannot take photograph of Indoor stadium as background, we'll have to make you erase if you have take any of it"
We replied "Then can we take the condos(pebble bay) as background?" (we're standing on the promenade, beside kallang river
They said "No, you cannot. As long as you are standing on Indoor Stadium premises, you are not allow to take any photograph"
We ask "then why tourist and some other people example: family outing, are allowed to take photos?"
They replied "Actually they cannot, but we didn't see them, if not we'll stop them too"
We ask " then how about if we go to the other side(the bridge at in between pebble and indoor stadium) and take Indoor stadium?"
They Said "then we cannot do anything...."

From Indoor Stadium PR Dept
I ask "Why such stern rules about photography? even disallow on taking other building as background?"
She reply "Security reason. Indoor Stadium is VERY STRICT on its security so we don't allow any photography session unless permitted. EVen mediacorp needs to apply permits, and if its for commercial, we'll charge you $1000"
I ask "I see people patronising the restaurant at Indoor stadium snapping away, so it makes then 'secured'? So by patronising the restaurant automatically make Indoor stadium 'Risk free'? Your security guard shoo us away without even asking for IDs, photography purposes etc and follows the book, what will it represent to foreigner on the image on Singapore? esp when Indoor stadium is also a landmark"
She reply "as far as she knows, any photography session or videoing needs permit"

Anyway, the guy that pop out from Indoor stadium, wear a blue uniform with a police/cisco belt buckel, was a unidentify person as when we ask the security guards about this person, he said "there's no such person. all security personnel are either from their security company.... "

All i can say is, rediculous.

hmmm...mayb too big group and the guards scare things happened.. well... is really too much.. now i know why during fireworks event @ kallang..why all the ppl shoot at the opposite side.. tis could be one of the reason.. haa..but there are plenty photographers during big events @ kallang stadium.. why arent they stop then??

anyway they shld have juz fence up the area must well during off peak period so ppl wun snap ard there. this is juz another never ending story..

i was at ding tai fung restaurant at junction 8 last weekend and was shocked that i wasn't allowed to take pictures of the chefs preparing the dim sums. if you've been to any din tai fung outlet, you'll know that their kitchen is not covered, and a big glass panel will encompass the entire place so that customers can see how they prepare the dim sums. if they have already done so, what is wrong in taking photographs.? and i wasn't even using my DSLR - i was using my handphone camera.!

I think most of us or all of us dun even know that we can't take photos on indoor stadium premises:dunno:...its just that no security guards come and stop only...indoor stadium dun even have signs that says "no photography allowed on premises":thumbsd::thumbsd:

imagine u r at home, ur door is open with the gate lock....n i start using my hp camera to take photo of u mopping ur floor from the outside.. ur corridor....do u like it??? but i tink u will feel better if i ask u b4 if... i can tak a photo of ur macho look mopping ur floor

erm...no offence but i think more or less wrong example. Din Tai Feng is a restaruant as in, we paid to eat there, but your house is somewhat private? For the different of these 2 I think its obvious....right?

agreed..mayb wrong example...however it does not mean u pay $ n u can behav whatever u wan...how would u feel if u r te boss of te restaurant n pple start takin photo without askin....tat's y u see certain shop with sign disallowing pple from takin photo. its te fault of Din Tai Feng for not putting up any sign to prevent pple from taking photo.

Reminds me of a group of friends of mine, went to Hong Kong and visited a very traditional and famous "Char Chan Tan". After the meal, they wanted to take some pictures and chosen a spot right under a "No Photography" sign. As they wanted to have a picture of the whole group, they actually waved over the boss's son to help them take a shot. Thing is, the guy just obligated with a smile some more. Good attitude.:thumbsup:

Ya, better example.

But for the case of Indoor stadium like not really related. Because unlike the restaurant, Indoor stadium is a landmark of Singapore, I cannot imagine the next time you wanted to take a photo of the Merlion, the security guard ask you for permit.....
