Seems everyone is raving about the iphone. Just found out it had several flaws:

1. Can't record video.
2. 2MB camera with no flash
3. Can't select MP3 ring tones
4. 2G not 3g

Also it seem iphone touch screen may be violating some patents:

The latest bit you want to know? Some one dropped it and the front glass crack....badly Yup...it is one very delicate piece of art too. So hold it close to ya when you get one or wrap it in bubble wrap heheh... Those who want to keep whippping it out ot show off...better be careful about dropping it.

iPhone is good as more than a phone but it's not perfect. I wouldn't worry too much about the Quantum Research patents. They're just upset that Apple bought a competitor that developed the touch screen technology used in the iPhone and iPod touch.

The only point out of your four that stopped me from considering an iPhone was the lack of 3g data. I have a top of the line Samsung phone (CDMA + EV-DO) that has great speed in accessing the internet, though it's a horrible phone.

1. This phone can record video but the video is so terrible I wouldn't show it to anyone.

2. It has a 1.3 MP camera with flash but the photos are insultingly bad and when you point the lens out the back of the phone, it only takes upside down photos.

3. You can only buy ringtones. You can't access the area where they're stored. Only the carrier can do that.

4. 3g is great in the U.S.A. where you can find it.

The U.S. phone market isn't nearly as wonderful as the rest of the world. We don't have many choices and the phones are locked. It's a huge country, so service is sometimes dodgy.

For the U.S.A., though, the iPhone is quite nice and it's much easier to use than any other phone available here.

don't you guys have nokia? get the N95. The video is good. The photo is good. Its 3G. you can set mp3 ringtones. Memory card expandable. Usb port, normal earphone port, gps, wifi.

The biggest put off for me is that the iPhone is a sealed phone. U can't change batt when its spoiled, the SIM card is also sealed inside, so u can't take out to change to other SIMs when overseas or use call cards off the shelves, not forgetting transfering SIM data to phone or other SIMs.

Currently a class action is filed cos many new owners experienced batt failure within the 1st 2 mths of using & can't replace it. Apple refuse to honour the warranty & charged owners a fee, so it all began. The best part is... apple "out of good service" is willing to rent (collect a fee) out another iPhone to affected owners when their phones r in for service.

Lastly the touch screen is spastic, its a pain to use it for SMS. Btw, there's no MMS too, in case anyone likes to send greetings to friends or captured info to send others.

iPhone is definitely out for me.

There are some Nokia phones here but I've never owned one. I'm not sure whether the N95 is available or not.

I didn't say that problems don't exist, but it sounds as if you're basing everything on hearsay, not facts.

Since you didn't confirm that you've used the phone, are you saying that you haven't?

Use or not use, it's besides the point that there are facts pointing to design querks that are not industry's "norm".

Most cellular phones does allow a simple change of battery for a simple reason that user can have an option to carry a spare batt instead of a charger and finding a socket for it. (this is especially so when iPhone is a multifunction device where it will load the battery constantly)

Also for local market like Sg, changing carriers are a norm since we don't allow locked phones. Thus the iPhone design with "embedded" SIM simply runs in the face of all existing phones available here today.
