I am using a Prosumer camera. It is the Sony H2. I have a problem with the flash. Its like when i want to take close up shots, and am forced to use the flash, i get a shadow caused by my lens. How to i avoid that?

The camera does not have a hotshoe. So i can't attach an external flash.

Sorry. I deleted the "bad" pictures on the spot. Never occured to me to keep and post. Anyway, its like a dark curved shadow on the bottom on the picture.

Can't. Standing further back is not really an option for me as i moved back, but cannot zoom in too much as the lens can't focus.

Can't think of how to help except to use a slave flash that will light up in another direction, or to place the subject with enough lighting so you don't need to use flash... or get secondary lighting so you don't need flash too.

would diffusing the flash with a piece of tissue paper help?

hmm..did u put the lens hood on???cos last time when i using my H9 the same thing u said happen..i just remove my lens hood ...walla..it done^^..

Diffusing the flash can help a bit... it is like using Stofen bounce or Gary Fong, but it still does create a shadow. You can try various materials. Tissue is one. Another is to go to Popular bookstore and they have some hard plastics that you can try as a diffuser.

any idea wat type of hard plastics i can get at popular that could fit on the flash?

power...slave flash...hm...does sls sells this?i interested in it...haha

anyway, using H9 here!

I tried removing the lens hood to no avail.

As above, any where selling slave flash?

How would a slave flash connect since there is no hotshoe?

yeah..i also wanna know where slave flash is being sold..

hm...i think slave flash is connect to the butt of the camera where you connect ur camera to tripod one..

seems unlikely. I thought the purpose of the slave flash is to have an external flash that is connected to the main cam body and allowing for the cam to sync with the flash so that the cam is able to meter based on the flash. Also, timing need not be so critical.

try shooting without flash, just use tripod and set to long exposure

Dunno how to describe those hard plastics... but they can be found in the art section where they sell papers and boards in sheets... and you can find them in different colors as well. the sheets of this plastic material is constructed like cardboard boxes but translucent. You can cut a piece and use a piece of tape to hold it over the flash.

a slave flash doesnt need to be connected anywhere right? it can be a standalone unit. Cos it's fired off by yr digi cam's own flash ma..
