Ok I will post one tonight. Is always not the happiest smile. Or do i need to let my shutter flip?

a few shots in continuous helps... if one shot it's hard, especially if the person is not posing... I don't like to pose people

in the journey of perfection, there is no destination

The quote of the month! :)

How do you capture the perfect smile/laugh?

Personally, I find the best smile/laugh on photo is when it is the real smile/laugh in the real person. Make your subject feel at ease and have them truely smile/laugh. You can take a series of exposure when they are doing so. Otherwise, even when you fire 24fps, you might not capture the smile/laugh you want.

There's no such thing as a perfect smile
How do you define a perfect smile?
maybe ur subject wasnt really happy when you shot him/her;p
you could try firing off a few frames and choose the best IMHO

Wow
but what do you use for your journey of perfection? Walk, run, fly? which is what I am looking for.

through experience and subject knowledge, you will be able to anticipate the moment
i usually go for 1 shot 1 kill, but many times to try to get the best moment.

1. know your subject
2. be prepared for the moment and shot
3. repeat step 1 and 2

I am assuming TS means like a natural laugh or smile...more like getting a candid laughter or smile shot. tough...i was tied in between voting either A or C for your poll but chose C since it would be more true that luck has been v important for me and also that perhaps it's easy for me to get my daughter to smile/laugh often! :)

knowing some good jokes
or what interests your subject and will make them smile

also if your subject is comfortable with you helps

if taking kids, some toys or games would be great

erm ok my defination of perfect smile = a natural smile or laugh. Not those pose smile. How you know he/she is going to laugh? Everytime by the time I want to capture them they not laughing anymore.

maybe u can chat to your subject, make her feel at ease, tell a few jokes, things like that

In an event? Maybe you should dress like a clown, you should have higher chance of people looking at you and laugh or smile...:bsmilie:

Well... in normal circumstances, you then have to be aware of the happenings and capture the moment when it arises.
