I got a GPS from China but that is with China Map.
Anyone can advice where to buy map for Sgp and Malaysia and which map is good buy.
Thanks/TM

mapking is rather good.. though the software isn't entirely perfect.
Navigon is by far the best software i've used but isn't available for local market.
Malsing maps provides free maps but the installation is quite a hassle.

What about Agis? They seemed to have rather good and well updated map for Whole of Malaysia as well as Singapore.

If TS's GPS set is any brand other than Garmin, he won't be able to download the malsingmaps of My and Sg as it operates on a Garmin platform. By far, the best map of My and Sg is still malsingmap and it's updated every 2 or 3 months where else other commercial maps don't get updated that frequently, the most once a year or slightly longer, and on top of that, u gotta pay for it (not cheap). The malsingmap is not difficult to install as you mentioned.

MalSingMaps works quite nicely.

I am also using MapKing, running on a Dopod D810 and I must say I am very impressed by what it offers. :)

I do get free mapking from D810 and u1000, but I still prefer to paid $ to get AGIS navigator...more useful to me...:)

malsing did release 1 map for mapking last year. I tried it out.. got lots of "blind spots" at some places is very details i find information overloaded. while other parts aren't marked accurately. so there are some trade offs. it's a good freeware initiative nontheless.

if you guys ever get the chance, do try out Falk Navigator and Navigon  I forgot which one, if the map marks tunnels, it will tell you when to exit the tunnel before losing signals in the tunnel. all other local softwares just dies in the tunnel leaving you lost and not knowing where to exit.

Mapking (Singapore) was recently licensed to use SLA's (Singapore Land Authority) base map. What this means is that Mapking maps of Singapore are more accurate and complete. I believe the latest maps available for download already use SLA's base map.

To me, the map is the most important component of a GPS solution. Without a good enough map, you won't get anywhere with GPS. :bsmilie:

Anywhere to get China City's maps?

If u're using Vista, don't get AGIS. The installer sux, and i still can't get it to install.

map is only half the story. You need the correct infomation to be put onto the map.
