mapking is rather good.. though the software isn't entirely perfect.
Navigon is by far the best software i've used but isn't available for local market.
Malsing maps provides free maps but the installation is quite a hassle.

I do get free mapking from D810 and u1000, but I still prefer to paid $ to get AGIS navigator...more useful to me...MalSingMaps works quite nicely.
I am also using MapKing, running on a Dopod D810 and I must say I am very impressed by what it offers.
malsing did release 1 map for mapking last year. I tried it out.. got lots of "blind spots" at some places is very details i find information overloaded. while other parts aren't marked accurately. so there are some trade offs. it's a good freeware initiative nontheless. If TS's GPS set is any brand other than Garmin, he won't be able to download the malsingmaps of My and Sg as it operates on a Garmin platform. By far, the best map of My and Sg is still malsingmap and it's updated every 2 or 3 months where else other commercial maps don't get updated that frequently, the most once a year or slightly longer, and on top of that, u gotta pay for it (not cheap). The malsingmap is not difficult to install as you mentioned.
i've never tried agis before.
latest version at http://www.asiagis.com.sg/agis2/index.asphttp://www.asiagis.com.sg/agis/index.htm.
Currently using this with my Packard Bell Compasseo GPS unit. Been to Penang,Malacca and KL.. works very well!
Cheers
Mapking (Singapore) was recently licensed to use SLA's (Singapore Land Authority) base map. What this means is that Mapking maps of Singapore are more accurate and complete. I believe the latest maps available for download already use SLA's base map.

To me, the map is the most important component of a GPS solution. Without a good enough map, you won't get anywhere with GPS. :bsmilie:
maybe u can go down personally or get a pc/laptop with XP OS to install it...If u're using Vista, don't get AGIS. The installer sux, and i still can't get it to install.
.
yes agreed, at least the map must have latest and correct info as road in singapore keep changing every mths...but one thing need to mention is Agis don't shown all CP...force me to install pocketMMSD3 from streetdirectory book to get all sufficient detail info...map is only half the story. You need the correct infomation to be put onto the map.
