Hihi. I just bought a PnS (Powershot A570 IS) few months ago. I have tried shooting some trees, some outdoor, indoor events... See http://qing81.multiply.com

I find that PnS may not be so good in shooting events (those with stage) because of its range. Do you agree? Do you any great stage photos taken with a PnS?

I guess there are lots of stuff I have not tried and I have no idea what to shoot next. Any suggestions that I can practise on my lightnings?

I have saw Azure's photos taken by his Nikon PnS. It is quite inspiring and I may want to try some abstract stuff too. Megaweb's PnS macro shoots are great too.

If you are using a PnS, maybe you can drop a link here to showcase your photos and inspire newbies like me ^^... Let this be a place where newbies can be inspired to shoot with their PnS camera (nothing against DSLR)

Before my D80, I use to use Canon S3IS and you can see those pic taken with it in my Flickr account (from my signature).

Now a days, I use a Fuji F20 P&S for shots with deep DOF requirement.:)

I used to have a Canon A710 IS but sold it after i got my S5 IS. Now mainly doing street shoots for that cam.

you can try landscapes/cityscapes/seascapes, amazingly singapore has a lot more of them than people give it credit for
while it might be very ley chey for you to get a gnd filter set since those are primarily designed for dslr

you can try hdr, i have seen very rewarding results for hdr from pns, but you will need a tripod

also, pns can be good for macro, just take whatever you fancy, so long as you work hard at composition, and ensure that you do not push your pns beyond its limits ( definitely more limited than dslr, anyone who disputes that is delusional).. any pns pictures can equal or beat dslr - just look at ortega's ixus shots and you'll agree, i bet

me using Kodak C875. got it at the last comex show in mid 2006. i do fel myself restricted sometimes by my cam cos its hard for me to play with the manual settings on my cam without using a tripod. but other than that, its a nice little cam to use. managed to be able to shoot with one hand without shaking.

got many pics, but lazy to post. ;p i've tried experimenting with wad ti can do with my cam. the macro functions, :nono: as for zoom, 5X is my best. fireworks also haven tested yet. night photography, not good too. i'm still experimenting and trying to find my niche.

Absolutely nothing wrong with PnS cameras. I find that they make excellent street photography cameras, and it's not so intimidating to the subjects. Nothing more innocuous than a simple PnS right? I usually find that it relaxes the subject and they don't get too self-concious. I can imagine someone could be a bit disconcerted if a photographer points a bazooka (honking big zoom lens), an expensive SLR body (that screams "LOOK AT ME, I AM A PRO!!!") with a (probably) giant flash attached at them :bsmilie: < - Note, a poor attempt at humour, I have nothing against SLR shooters ;p

Some photos I took with my Lumix PnS during my last vacation can be found at my flickr album. Click my sigature :)

before my first dslr... i ve got a G7 Canon... i use manual mode all the time.

works pretty well and compact but zooming is abit slow if u use for events, fashion show or if quick zooming needed
rapid shoot is not as fast as my current dslr oso
iq cannot be compare to DSLR but it is quite well
it also will lack the benefit of f2.8 zoom compare to some high end L lens e.g. 70-200 F2.8 L
so with spare money ard...i decided to plunge into dslr

Well here's a shot taken with a PnS - a 4 MP Nikon Coolpix 4600

I like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/47075868@N00/236888954/

There are some other photos (e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/47075868@N00/365931986/) that I like but they were taken by D80.

Anyway, thanks for sharing ^^. Hope to see your Fuji F20 shoots soon.

What is hdr? Any photos on it?

Nice shot!

Thanks everyone for your active participation! Keep those ideas and photos coming ^^

I wonder if anyone shoot TFCD with a PnS... Or anyone has let you shoot TFCD with a PnS?

I use a Sony DSC-T3 for underwater photography (mostly macro stuff). While I also have a DSLR, I still can't bring myself to use that underwater lest it floods!
