but this donuts craze has been quite a while. The city hall shop queue has been there for more than a year right?

Krispy Kreme is OVER-RATED lah. I keep hearing about it so when I went US on July, I wanted to get some but my colleague say a lot of outlets closed down....

Finally got a chance in Melbourne last month. Tried two different outlets, frankly, I think the one in City hall is better due to the fact that they serve it warm/hot with the chocolate with soft. The krispy kreme on the other hand is cold and all pre-made. The outlets can't even warm up for me.

Ya I know you can microwave it at home, but I always like freshly made stuff.

da best donuts are those $0.60 sugar coated donuts found in your neighborhood bakeries... this kind of donuts is here to stay and will never die off

I DID NOT!!!!
I Q for 3 hours hor!!! :sweatsm:

wah lao...i queue for 3mins and i got my donuts...i already find it very long...

1yr ago, a similar topic would be "Are we going nuts over coffee bread?"
1.5yr ago, a similar topic would be "Are we going nuts over tarts?"
2yrs ago, a similar topic would be "Are we going nuts over fishes?"
2.5yrs ago, a similar topic would be "Are we going nuts over tea?"

Tea, fishes, tarts, coffee bread & donuts.

I'm taking bets for the next craze in line.... ;p

Bro jsbn, please help me out by clarifying on the fish craze. I don't remember le.

TIA.

There was 2... One was the luohan fish craze, some malaysian fish breeders took Cichlids, a family of fishes and crossed bred them. Something like cross breeding persians cats, siamese cats and what other breed you like. Result was this aggressive, humped head, patterned fish that they marketed as a mystical fish from heaven with the ability to give luck to its owners. We then saw next stories in tabloid papers of fishes that gave 4D numbers etc... In its hey day, every neighbourhood had a fish shop with tanks and tanks of baby luohans... some even were priced at thousands of dollars....

Second one was the marine fish aka Nemo craze. After the show Finding Nemo came out, again shops sprung up all over the island selling marine fish. Although marine fish keeping is a science in its own. These shops hookwinked the gullible customers by selling them "all in one" mini tanks and say that now technology very advanced, no need large tank, no need strong filtration system.. just put in this 30 or 40 over dollar sand and volia you have marine fish tank. If fish die, then they will say, you dont know how to keep fish but never mind buy some more!!

Honestly I really pity the uncountable fishes and verterbrates that died for nothing in these two crazes.

As for the donut craze, I dont understand, when dunkin donuts was here, no one even bothered about it except maybe a select few like me. So it had to close, now we have donuts that smell like dunkin donuts and are not as nice as dunkin donuts and we have people wasting their 3 hours queing for it? Tsk tsk tsk

Because Singaporeans are nuts. They like to follow the crowd.

This thing will die one day, like Hello Kitty, Roti Boy, Apple Struddel,............................................................................................................:bsmilie:

aeskywan, thanks for the clarification. Now I get the meaning of fish craze. Just that Bro jsbn mentioned:

Coffee bread (food), tarts (food), tea (food), hence I assumed 'fish' craze that Bro jsbn mentioned is food related too. :)

Hahaha... quite a few of my Malaysian friends have commented more than once - any food that Singaporeans queue up for is guaranteed to be not that good. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

not really. I find that most of the stuff that have long queues are usually excellent. Like I find the donuts in City hall better than the famed Krispy Kreme in Melbourne.

But having said that, the queues are too long lah.... few hours for donuts.... 15 mins maybe.

Hah Gim Leng? When was that?? Didnt know about the Gim Leng Craze. Other mini fish crazes, "Crystal Shrimp Craze", "Ciclid Craze".

...DSLRs.... :embrass:

I tried the one at Raffles City before, not really that fantastic. Maybe it's because word of mouth advertising is very powerful. What I wish is for Mister Donut to come to Singapore. They've got really nice donuts, both taste and looks! :bsmilie:
I love Mister Donut!

Tried Mister Donut both in Taiwan and Japan. The bread/dough is excellent and unlike the ones in Singapore. Fluffy, not greasy at all and not too sweet.

If I have the money I will bring in Mister Donut.
