Does anyone know whether its possible (and if so, how) to get a credit card drawing from a Japanese bank or japanese branch?

I m trying to get a facility to make purchases from Yahoo Japan Auctions easily without having to use buying services (as they charge a lot).

Any ideas?

I assume you are going to Japan to do this? You can use all Citibank ATM's, and some japanese ATMS but forgot the bank name (only one of them accepts) and then transfer the funds to the sellers account through the bank.....Citibank can do that too.

Eh no leh, can I get it done in Singapore? I'm using it to place bids on Yahoo Japan. I'm not goign to Japan itself.

Ah, I misunderstood you using the word 'drawing' from a japanese bank......

You mean getting a CC from a japanese bank as issuer? That I don't know, but there is JCB cards, not sure if you can get it here.......try to visit a japanese local bank?

Many japanese don't want to send overseas though........or else I would have been able to get lenses from there. Anyway, there are some sites that can buy, and pay and receive the goods on your behalf in Japan and then sent it to you. They typically charge about 10% plus shipping

Try applying for JCB related cards, eg Isetan, Takashimaya, Meiji, etc japanese affliated merchants.

even if you do get a card, you will find it hard to find sellers that are willing to send overseas. too much of a hassle for them. there are some japanese banks in SG but then they either service the companies only or mostly japanese customers.

Sending overseas is fine becuase I can use Vpost Japan. The issue is not so much the seller but the Yahoo system, which only allows you to bid over 5000yen if you register a credit card which is issued by a Japanese bank. JCB cards issued by Singapore banks will not qualify.

HS: I also know abt buying sites, but the cost can be quite high so I thought of trying a better way.
