Flooding at Commonwealth Ave West. Traffic Impassable

Cons digger.
As above title. I just came out of the flood. Direction towards Queenstown flooded to half door to windscreen height. Saw a Mercs submerged there.. I suspect there's a hole in the ground as the boot is up and the bonnet down.

Direction towards Clementi about bumper height. Cars with CAI sure to die. Avoid if possible.
 

expressway dunno lah.. onemotoring live cams look ok..
 

Flood pics at Commonwealth.

Aiyah, that section of road always flood if got sudden heavy downpour. It's somewhere after bus stop at Commonwealth MRT towards City. Usually flood recedes after rain stops.

As far back as 1990, when I stayed around there, I was late for work due to this. I remembered that part of the road drainage repair some years back but still flood. Brought back old memories....kinda of funny thinking back.

But then there is a few cars that are stalled.....

Even with the best drainage system in the world, such small flood is inevitable. It happens especially during heavy and prolonged downpour and when it coincides with extremely high tide that happens on or around every 3rd and 18th day of the month in the lunar calendar. Nowadays, such flood is nothing compared to pre-70s days where waist level floods were very common whenever there was a heavy downpour. Even some kampongs got flooded up to the shoulder level and the army assault boats were called in to extricate the kampong folks. Potong Pasir was one of them, I remember. With our network of big canals, such floods are history.

Brudder Redstorm....we must be from the same era...I also can rem my cousin piggyback me to sch during some of this heavy downpour....should ve just skip class....hahaha

it's probably due to the moon's close proximity to us that's causing the high tide lvls
