i've read around and have the impression that fujifilm ones seem to have the best night pics?
anyway after shooting continuously for 3 weeks in excess of 1k photos, i more or less firm up what i really want in a cam. the panasonic fx3 i used for the trip couldn't really make it in pretty dark areas.
eg i was in a gondole ride in venice at night with a few other tourists. we went through dark stretches of rivers. one of the lady was using... duno what brand/model, and forgot to ask! but suspect could be a sony. never use flash. layman also la... just happy happy point n shoot here shoot there, and i peeped at the preview in the screen... waaa... the pic actually came out quite clearly and bright. my fx3 totally cannot make it unless use flash (coz boat ma... very rocky). and the night shots with flash really sux to the core... super ultra noisy. so really wasted the whole ride couldn't take any photos (especially those by-the-river cafes which are lighted).
i think for a layman pns, day shots i think can be quite insignificant in terms of comparing which is better? coz i think more or less about there one? correct me if i'm wrong.
so what i really want is a cam that excel in night shots without having to be a pro (must use tripod la, this n that la, etc). hmm... pardon me for the non-technicality... it's something like having a very fast exposure so that won't blur blur, hence dun really have to be super stabilise the cam, and yet the fast exposure can capture a clear/bright/detailed-enuff shot.
preferably using sdcard coz all my other media are somehow sdcards, so can share resources readily. but if final recommendation still is fujifilm (using xd rite?), then i think also bobian.
then other requirements are compact/light and good battery life. budget preferably in the 500+ region max. is there any THE cam to get?
