It's up to individual coz (my thought is) might be too dry for the mechanical-parts if were to open up lens & body cap/covers:confused:(pls correct if wrong, TIA);)

I don't think you want to dismount the lens from the body as dust would get on the CCD faster.

thanks for all the replies. at first, i thought if i covered up the lenses with caps, the moisture can't escape out and still get trapped near the lenses....

Front Lens caps I think won't make much difference. What will is probably the rear lens caps that blocks the air flow to the inside of the lens. That said, unless you've been using you lenses in really humid environments like suana etc... Its not really of much harm keeping the lens caps on. I do keep the lens caps on for my lenses and don't unmount the lens from the camera. I just clean up the outside of my camera and lens bodies before keeping thats all.

I don't think lens caps are air-tight to prevent moisture escape. I also think the use of the cabinet is *not only* to "dry" the lens once put in, but to give the lens a drier environment than outside to prevent further condensation / mold growth.

Hi,
Is it ok to keep a dry cabinet in a ventilated room? Or should it be kept in a closed room?

That depens - if there's a lot of moisture when you ventilate the room, I would keep it closed-up.

As for the original question, basically I've seen the pro studios all keep the front/rear/body caps on their equipment in dry boxes.

thanks. it was more like not being able to set rh in 45 - 55 % rh. was droppin below 40%
