Haiz......there will some cause of great celebration if the garment did not increase this and that.
Plus this year's celebration by the marina must have cost the tax payer some $$$$$ to built the water platform stage as well..... should just use the padang.

I have a feeling that this is just a testing ground for our SAF .... :think:
if one day we run out of land, the SAF can build one giant platform in the international water and can practise their live-firing exercises .... :bsmilie::sweatsm::sweat:

Just wondering ... why is it common to call this Singapore's birthday? It's not that there was no city or no population/society on this island before August 9, 1965. Isn't National Day merely relating to the present version of Singapore's legal/political identity - in a way just an administrative act?
Day we gain independence that day, before that we weren't actually Singapore, Singapore. But you know, part of Malaysia, etc.
Every nation calls its National Day/ Independence Day birthday I guess, because when you are independent you are "born", especially applicable to countries who are toddling around and new to handling their own affairs.
did anyone notice that the police guard of honour were not marching in line when they were doing the march past past the president?
