if the len has dead pixel?

i found that my len has dead pixel since i bought, but, it seems like sometimes not happen even though is also sky shot... so weird... it is small shape small position, sometime i tired very hard to look into the pic and din find the curve but sometime it is very obvioud, especially sky shot...

i htink i will take it back to the shop which i bought from, but i would like to ask that normally what should we do? coz i in sg but i bought in msia, it is not that convenient to travel, so i hope can get to know wat should i do and do in one shot... save time...

Lens doesn't have a dead pixel. Only dust or fungus or some dirt internally...

Sensors can have dead pixels, the service personnel will re-map the sensor to read from the surrounding pixels to get the value.

the purpose i meant take it back to the shop i bought is to change a new one
if the hardware really have prob...

If you can repeat the problem in front of them, I suggest you bring back to the shop you bought it from.

I don't think it's dead pixels? Looks like either a stain on your lens front or mount or even on sensor itself, hard to tell.

I thought dead pixels appear either as white or black. =/

The term "dead pixel" don't sound right for your case if it was the lens causing the problem. It is refers to stubborn pixels on a LCD panel that either refuses to light up, a "hot pixel" refers to one that refuses to turn off, a "stuck pixel" refers to one that gets stuck at either Red, Green or Blue.

Anyways, agree with bro nightmare, might be a stain on the lens or the CCD. Best to bring it to NSC for a good check.

For starters,

You could check the lens near a light source. Look for finger prints, dirt or any foreign substance on the front and rear element (The glass parts at the front and the end of the lens).Use a clean soft cloth or lens tissue to lightly dab it away. Do not use force. Also, do not use water, but lens cleaning fluid to clean it. What you have on your lens looks to be a smuge of some sort that should come off easily.

Get the lens checked... you got any other lenses to compare? If you have changed to a different lens and the same problem occurs, then it may be a sensor problem.

But if it only happens on this particular lens, then it's a good time to bring it back to change.

For a shape that well defined in the image it has to be on the sensor. Probably a smudge or some fibre on the sensor surface.

What camera is that? Is it a DSLR with interchangeable lens?

It will not appear in all photos. If you shoot in wide aperture and the image is not a plain patch of same colour then it will not be easily noticeable.

Shooting at the sky using P mode will bring this out becuae the aperture used is usually small.

Given the size and shape I think it looks like a small piece of hair or a piece of dust. It should show up on shots of very bright subjects such as sky as PnS cameras on auto will tend to stop down the lens under such a circumstance, where such dust will be rendered more visible in photos.

Looks more like a piece of hair or something on your sensor. ;p A strand of someone's eyelashes?
