My take on an often shot location. I liked the way the red of the coloured "umbrellas" contrasted nicely with the blue of the sky and the Novotel in the background and made this shot. The restaurant chinese junk that was available in the foreground added balance to the image for me. I also included a limited amount of the light reflection in the water. Hope it works for you and I sure as heck hope it's different in some way from others you've seen.

Slightly over the 1 post limit this week, but I thought it'd be best to post this one here.

I think the mixture of colours come together to form a very pleasing picture:)

Nice colour....but why the boat is OOF...

Hmm not quite sure. I think it's probably a slight bit of motion blur? I'm not too sure myself. The exposure was about 25" but I think the boat wasn't exactly a boat but a restaurant of sorts so I don't think it would have been rocking.

Have you consider the effects of passing boats? At 25secs exposure, motion blur could be more pronounce.

Definitely motion blur of the boat in the foreground, Novotel is perfectly alright and it doesn't exactly seem like the focus could be off at such a distance, not that wide but still reasonably wide enough, unlikely to have such selective DOF without a Lensbaby, or similiar sort.

The colour is nice and calm, the sky is gorgeous imho, but somehow the scene seems too cramped for me, needs more breathing space.

I agree that it could have done with a little more space, but to both the right and the left was other buildings that I totally didn't want to include in the image. Wound up with this composition in the end, salvaging the situation.

Wider focal length and vertical format? More of the sky, more of the reflections, I don't really find the buildings themselves very appealing. =)

I did try, but at that moment this seemed best. This one was shot at 28mm. 16 included a bit too much. Anyhow, what's done is done I guess, I can only shoot more in a future round. Thanks for the tips. :)

O, 25" exposure....the boat is moving...its a real boat anchored at the quay to become a restuarant....thanks for the explanation.

You know the first thing that caught my eyes weren't the boats, but actually the building n the sky o_O

i like the sky! lolx

Glad you like at least one part of it :p For me I try to piece together different great bits of a scene, though I can rarely get all of the bits to be great together. Most often I only get some right, like with this image. Still have a long way to go. At least I still have years to keep improving :)
