Hi, I already have canon 10-22mm, 50mm 1.8f, 75-300mm & of course the 18-55mm kit lens (although I'm planning to get rid of the kit lens later on), so to complete the range, I would like to have a lens to fill the gap between the 22mm to 75mm. I'm looking at the canon 24-70mm L but its too expensive for my budget. What other lenses with the similar range & output quality can I buy to serve as an alternative to the 24-70mm of canon. Thanks!

Wah so you have been missing out on the 22-75mm range?? Since you already have the 50 prime and not wan the 24-70, and if still insisting on canon lens, then the 17-40 is great. 50-70mm range is less used IMO...

24-105L. Ever since I got this, I hardly ever use my 24-70L. If you are on 1.6x, the EF-S 17-55 2.8 is one you can't go wrong with.

IMO, with the lenses you have now, it should be enough. However, the trouble is changing the lens. If you've been to some of the recent event, you will notice one guy keep changing between 17-40L and 70-200L... that is me... very troublesome.

I'm thinking of getting 24-70L for low light condition, but sadly no IS.

Cheers.

The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di is a popular 3rd party choice for those who can't shell out for the Canon L equivalent. There is also the Tokina AT-X Pro II 28-70mm f/2.6-2.8, which can be a bargain if you can source for a good condition 2nd hand copy. There are also slower alternatives made by Canon, for e.g 24-85mm f/3.5-f/5.6, if you do not need the f/2.8 stop.

Now, I'm considering the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and Tamron 28-75mm f2.8...but I also heard of the Sigma 17-70mm f2.8. Anyone who have used or tried these lenses? Which of the three will you consider the best choice? I know the Canon L type lenses are very good but again, I'm restricted because of their prices....Thanks again..

I'd go with the tammy 28-75/2.8
