One of the best dedicated GPS brands is Garmin. Their Nuvi series is very popular here and the cheapest among it is the Nuvi 200 which cost about S$590 without the Garmin map of Singapore and Malaysia. You need to pay S$200 for the map and it only covers up to Penang and the update is not very frequent; I heard once in a year or more. Fret not, you can go to malsingmaps website to download the map of Malaysia and Singapore free of charge. The website is maintained by a bunch of dedicated Malaysian and Singaporean who regularly updated the maps for its member. You can even downloaded files, to be used in conjunction with the map, which will alert u of redlight camera, speed camera, ERP gantry, etc. in Singapore and speed cams in My. You can find this in the original Garmin Sg/My map.

Why do u want to pay S$200 for the original Gamin map of Sg and My when u can get a free one from malsingmaps website?hmmm $590 + $200 still ex leh...wait for price to drop
Garmin is seriously good.
Its infact worth every penny - have seen the garmin nuvi 300 in action on my friend's car up north coupled with maps from malsingmaps
I concur. Before I owned the Garmin Nuvi 660, I have never driven beyond Johor. With the GPS, I drove all the way to Melaka right to the doorstep of the hotel. With the GPS, u safely venture to the places you have never been before without the fear of getting lost. It gives you point by point voice alert on where to turn and will recalculate the route if you deliberately take a different route or take a wrong turn. With the speed cam alert, it even warned me of speed cam on the NS highway. The map even have POI of restaurant, banks, hotel, shopping centres, etc.
Yea i agree... Can easily find shopping centres etc. Even small eateries!
But we did hit a few gliches on our way back ... The thing took us the long way :bsmilie: back to the NS highway. You got to have a routeable map in order for you to go for point A -> B. Do correct me if i'm wrong.
