i planto shoot at clubs and stuff so was wondering whether using the 50mm 1.8 would yield really different shots from using my kit lens?

Well usually the kits lens will be a zoom and having a F3.5-4.5 or there abt. the 50mm is a prime with F1.8. So it not really fair to compare both.

there is a lot of times the 1.8 will come in handy esp shooting in enclosed area where light might not be bright enough, but it oso shooting in enclosed area, that u might encounter limited space to shoot. That where a zoom come in handy.

there are pros and cons so the best is to know what kind of pic u wan and thus better to judge which will be a better lens.

In terms of image quality.. 50mm 1.8 beats my 18~135mm hands down! Its a world of difference for me (i use indoor for my baby without flash). Super value too.. absolutely no regrets.. :)

50mm 1.8 is the best and cheapest lens that u can get for that price range ;)
its worth buying

i think the 50mm if on 350D with the crop factor, its quite hard to get everyone into the frame, esp in club... not sure... :( i also wan know more

Yah, Canon best valued lens. ;)

50mm f/1.8.
Perhaps cheap isn't the word to use, it makes it sound too CHEAP :p
It's low cost, small, light, fast and sharp. It's great!

Compared to using the kit lens, you have a larger aperture, zoom with your feet and it's sharper ;)

i dun mean as to which to buy . jsut wondering if the kit will work as well.

yeah i guess sharpness is the key

your kit lens is more then enough to shoot in clubs...50mm is too long of a focal length..

if you need to step back and can't you might value your kit lens more, while the 50mm f1.8 will let you work at instances without a flash.
Carry both and use accordingly!

i would use the kit lens. if i have a 50mm too, i will bring it along as a back up.
