First Try

Hi there,
This is my first time posting up image got critic. For the first shot, I was intending to try out the manual mode and manual focus. Please comment on the composition for both photos so that I can improve in future. Both pictures are taken using Canon A85.

you may want to resize your image to a viewable size as well, 600px to 800px on the long side will be good.

Hmm, image is still too small. I can't make out the clutter of things on the left but it looks out of place. The vase and flowers do stand out a little because of its colors and I believe it is in focus, again hard to make out because of the small size. Too many elements in the photo in terms of composition. Perhaps the sentimental value of the setting prompted you to include them in the frame.

Do remember that when taking photos like this in a controlled environment, where everything is within your control, you should have done much more to shift away distracting things (i.e. the chair, the paperbag in front of the piano, etc etc) such that only the things you want to appear in the photo should be there.

When you have the luxury of time, make use of it!
