Hi, I would like to find out how much you guys would charge for a full day/2days wedding event shoot. The cost being only time, excluding printing, batts, etc. Hope to hear what you guys have to say. =D

first time shooting?

Events and shooting weddings are quite different.
How much to charge depends on what you can produce and how deep are your client's pockets.

First, how much you think your skills worth? Second, if you did not take this job and took another similar one, will be be paid better? Last, how intensive is that event? Very 'siong' one? or quite relax? Mostly seen ppl paying at around $500 for a day without printing.....

does anyone know how much to charge for those school class photo type of assignments? thanks!

those are normally charged according to print if i'm not wrong.

hmmm? but what about photog's fees and equip/ lights? what's the range?

i think about 400-500

u muz be joking per hour lol it is for a day lar

I don't think enghong is joking. There's an increasing number of local photogs who're charging 400-500/hr for weddings. It's not too long ago that both the consumers and producers in SG see that as an absurd amount. But these photographers defy the odds and worked hard to make what they believe happen - earning what they're worth. Instead of taking the easy route of earning what's easiest to earn.

Kudos to these wedding photogs for paving the way.

I know of at least 4 photographers charging 400 per hour ;)

I think even newbies should do their math properly. $400 for a day of shoot probably can just cover the equipment wearing out/depreciation. What about the time spent on shooting the wedding? The time spent delivering the cd or meeting the clients or even time spent on DI. Transportation costs? Meals during the day? Extra batteries/cards do not come free with the camera. They all cost $$.

Even if it were for the passion of shooting, i think we should at least charge enough to cover all the expenses right? Or is someone willing to fork out $$ to shoot?

:)

Just realise i need to add a disclaimer that Singapore is an open market and that there are markets to cater to all budgets. I mean, there are even free photographers and free newspapers out there that cater to a different audience. If you wish to shoot for a lower price bracket for portfolio, then by all means do so but do note that weddings are really not easy to capture and moments missed are really gone. Shoots also means long hours of standing and carrying of equipment.

Hmm...how about corporate events (seminars/annual recognition etc..) how much is the ideal rates for these coverage jobs?
