Every year there are dengue cases yet each year we are not able to eradicate mosquitoes. Aren't these mother nature's way of life? Why are we trying so hard to go against nature? Its like telling the sky not to rain then there will be no mosquitoes, quite impossible, then why are we trying so hard?:dunno: May be we can try to eliminate cockroaches for a start, I think its also very difficult.

What makes you so sure that you can recover from Dengue? you think there is cure?

IMHO:
Pests can NEVER be eradicated, as long as the earth exists, people exist, pests will exist. Some ecologists consider that there are no pests, that every creature is just fighting for survival. But most of us are not ecologists, I know I'm not, even though I respect nature. Well, we are in no position to go into the forest and kill every cockroach and fly, or spray chemicals into any mosquito-breeding water body. In fact, there are virtually thousands of species of flies, mosquitoes, wild roaches etc., and most of them are harmless. You don't generally find these in urban areas.
But what about the few disease-carrying vector species, which are able to survive and even thrive in urban areas? We can't eradicate them, but we have to control them! There's no way to completely eradicate pests or diseases, like mosquitoes or dengue, but by using proper control measures we can at least bring numbers of both down greatly. The reason why their numbers don't go down much is almost always human error and complacency. It doesn't make sense to just let them be just because we cannot completely eradicate them.

woa vespa_bicolor you sound pretty serious. I think the rest are just having a moment of light heartedness But i totally agree with you. Thats the way nature works.
And yes you can recover from dengue, but it can potentially be fatal, especially in certain cases of second infection.

Haha, did I? Didn't realise it, was just sharing what I learnt recently and responding to the question by the thread-starter, which many people have also asked elsewhere (about why we even bother to try to eradicate them).
Well, even if I know I'm not going to die from a bout of dengue, I wouldn't want to get it!
