Hi Guys

I was looking to purchase a used LC-1 but someone have made me an offer on his Lumix L1. Now I have to made a decision between these 2 cams.

Wonder if anyone of you guys who owned the L1 and LC-1 could share some views, opinions/advice between the Lumix L1 & LC-1. Well besides the diff in prices, how is the performance between the 2 cameras from your personal point of views after using either them or both..

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated..Thank you..

None of the Lumix L1/LC-1 owners have any views or comments, be it +ve or -ve..?:dunno:

Especially guys out there who owned both of these models..;) Greatly appreciated for your valuable feedbacks..Thank you in advance..

That is an absolute no-brainer. Buy the L1. It's a DSLR with a superb kit lens with OIS. High ISO performance is way, way, way better than that of the LC1. Be aware also that the sensor of the LC1 is problematic and most needed to be replaced sooner or later. You need to make sure that the set you are buying already had the sensor replaced. Otherwise it would cost you $350 to replace it later on if it fails on you. :(

As far as kit lenses are concerned, the 14-50mm PannyLeica has to be one of the best; if not THE best.

Pointer taken note..Thnx drakon09.

Thank you for the kind comments..;) I am newbie to this la..

I'm not quite good in photography, so i couldn't give any opinion which one you should go for. I bought L1 because of my previous lumix fz10, i missed that camera very much. Previously, i was considering to get LC1 as well and thanks panny announced their 1st dslr before i buy LC1. In the long run, dslr is better because the lens is exchangable, overall still depends on personal budget. So far, i am very satisfy what i get from L1, and now start keeping money for the new Leica 25mm F1.4.

I owned the LC-1 briefly and like it alot because of its f2.0 28mm-90mm lens which to me is fantastic. However sold it off later because it has no OIS, visible noise on low-light shots from ISO 200 onward and the lens is not interchangeable like a DSLR. However it is a very good cam for studio / walkabout shoot. Its color and sharpness is very good.

I now owned an L-1 and as most has mentioned, its also a good body with a fantastic 14-50mm (28mm-100mm) lens. Its 10mm longer, in-built OIS but at f2.8-3.5. Noise is better than the LC-1 but not above ISO400 and I'm thinking of venturing into the new Oly 510 which has received good reviews.

Other than these obvious to me, both rendered beautiful shots, rich, sharp and contrasty.

Hi Jay

Many thanks for the brief account of your experience withe these 2 cams. As said, I tested these 2 cams from the prospective sellers & found similiar observations as you have.

I am currently looking at the Olympus systems & have indeed found the Oly system (E-330)handling pretty the "same" as what the Lumic L1 could do. . One other factor is the price of the L1 which is too far a gap.. :)

Happy shooting Jay..

Hi Jay
How about share with us some of your work taken by L1? It would be nice if more people sharing their photo here.

The cam is still new to me and being a casual shooter has not tested and exploit it. However I had a recent field trip to learn about IR photography and would just post this color shot (unprocessed) for view. Hope to post more when time permits.

The gap isn't that big as it comes with a Leica 14-50mm as I believe Ebay is selling around US$1300 or less.
