i think we have been talking about the money side of the business, the competitors. but how about talking about the WORST clients you have faced ?

sometimes its not about the photographer nor the team. its the client who thinks that their money can buy the entire world thou...

a true professional will not bitch your clients, esp on a open forum;)

not exactly bitch thou. i felt that theres a need to educate the rest on how low your clients to go.

so when everyone shares their experiences about such people around, the awareness is being raised.

My worst client paid me $60 in 10 cent coins.

It was my first job and I counted every cent of it just in case. :)

You definitely have a deep pocket. :bsmilie:

Maybe you can write him a receipt, tear it up into little bits, and then put it in a plastic bag for him to take home.:D :D

He some more gave me a second job that worth $300.

After counting $60 coins I couldn't tahan of having to count $300 coins again.

So I told him the job was to "big" for me. :bsmilie:

wow.... coins leh.... bring to bank, and the pple there at the counter will scramble to get the coin machine working. :bsmilie:

how about the client that has the most attitude problem ?

like what i mentioned in my first post like..... thinks his/her money can buy the entire world and i do not care what problems you have and etc etc.. :dunno:

I will. Its those who doesn't want to pay.

Since they don't treat me as a professional, I don't see the need to extend my professionalism to them either.

agreed... sometimes i felt like being treated like a animal being called here and there. call me up middle of the night..

and pay peanuts and think that they money is worth 1Bil.

none that i've met but my ex-employers are like that! :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

The was a client that wanted to sue a partner for 1/2 million dollars ... went to court but fortunately didn't succeed. The job was only worth $5000.

that is ridiculous....

that is like 1000 times the amount leh..

all clients that pay on time are good. =)

anyway i think this subforum can change name to 'can-of-worms' discussions.. lol..

How about a 'potential' client that calculates the cost of 300 4R print-outs and album, multiply by a small percentage and insists that he will only pay this amount for AD photography services?

For this kind of client, will have to charge him $$ for even talking to me.

i've seen such a client.. only recently in jan. apparently that guy is a regular in navy. even until now when the total bill is given to him. he refuses to pay the remaining sum.

so i've decided not to even talk to him. so actually i am waiting for him to decide to pay me or not. that kind of people not even sincere of paying me also. so when they call me. i will just tell them that you can keep that money for your kid.

i will not accept your money because you are insincere and i felt insulted.

One tip, when it comes to regional production houses, you must still be wary of how they honour their T&Cs, or lack thereof. Sometimes I wonder if these people are aware of the value of their own reputation.

I'm still awaiting payment from one such organisation.
