currently i saw this 2nd hand lens with a FD mount and the FD to nikon adaptor i was told is very expensive.

so i found a cheaper FD-m42 and m42-nikon adaptor. what are the problems if i use this method ? will the distance between lens and sensor be affected ?

Erm.. I think both should be for fitting the M42 lenses to the respective bodies isn't it?

i mean, the lens is FD mount. so i attach an adaptor to m42 mounts. then i add on another adaptor to fit to nikon

lens(FD) -> FD-M42 adaptor -> m42-nikon adaptor -> nikon F mount camera.

If I'm not wrong, if you're mounting an FD lens to M42, then there has to be some optics in the adapter. And for M42 to F-mount, there is also some optics. So at the end of the day, the focal length of the lens will not be preserved and the quality may be degraded.

If there are no optics in the adapters, then they will behave like extension tubes and you won't be able to focus to infinity.
