I recently signed a contract with my company to be a photographer but seems like it is not turning out that way. I was made to do things that i think photographers r not supposed to do. E contract was signed with e boss assuring he would train me as a photographer but till now it was minimal.
Does a photographer need to do telemarketing? does a photographer need to go out n look for models?
Feeling very unhappy here.... wanna leave but e contract states that besides giving a one month notice.... u also have to compensate 6 mths pay.
went to take a look on e ministry of manpower's website n it says
Under the following circumstances, an employment relationship can be terminated without giving notice to the other party:

- If the employer fails to pay the employee's salary within seven days after salary is due; or

- If the employee is called upon to do work that is not within the terms of the contract of service.
SO is the contract i signed unfair? n r the above things i have to do expected of a photographer?

It depends what's written on your contract, like you said.

Right now, only you know what's written there, not us..

normally the work contract got scope of work, so if your contract didn't cover the scope of work that you were asked to do then its not very right. But sometimes we give and take a bit. Why don't you talk to your employer about how you feel about the situation?

Truth is they were reluctant to even give me a copy. But e job description was photographer..... but do u think wat i said is part of a normal photographer's job scope?

i like the checking out of the models part. i do that all the time.

Well.... they have plans for e company n being e lowest form of life there.... ur opinions means little more than a tao sar bao.

telemarketing?
i thnk u shud get hold of ur own copy of the contract first la.

urs is quite a tricky situation, i think.

maybe some of CS in house lawyers can help out.

That is wat i hope for too. Cos legal contracts r concern, the terms r unusually unfair to e employee.

So do you or do you not have a copy? It would be highly unusual to sign something and not get a copy.

If you got a copy, I suggest you post it here if you really want help on how to get out of it because it is nigh impossible to give any comments without seeing the entire picture.

Side Note: It is amazing how you are reigstered for almost 1.5 yeras without posting anything hehe :)

If they dont provide a copy to you, then it is unfair to you. You will have to demand for it, and see what is written there tat you signed for ..

Why would quiting enforces you to compensate them 6 months of salary ???

If they sack u leh ? Any compensation ?

I know small companies are like tat. Do alot of work outside your jobscope.

I m oso doing alot of stuff that i shouldnt be doing at all

Yeah, right. I think the TS kena bullied. Every contract you sign, both (or all) parties must keep a copy each. Be especially careful of multi-page contract where you only sign at the last page, the middle pages may be "swapped" after you sign. That's why proper contracts required signature on every page.

Sack depends...if it is cos of ur own wrong doing than still have to pay but with such a contract... hard to see them firing me anytime soon.

Hmmm.... Come to think of it. I think there is a very high chance that I did onli sign on e last page onli.
