This photo is taken at the beach shore of Lim Chu Kang.

I like the pp done on the colours and saturation, if any. But I think the background is slightly distracting.

I prefer this pic of yours with maybe a tighter crop so that the face and skin texture could be more clearly seen. Think it would really give impact to the pic.

Mine sharing what kind of pp treatment you did for both photos?

Hi blueayz, I adjusted the curve into an S and sharpen the picture.

Thank you for your comment.

although i dun see anything wrong with the bg coz it shows what the place is actually for...but your crop also creates a better focus. Duno, to me, the facial expression on his face (with all his wrinkles) may have been a good head shot....:dunno:

ps: for a moment i thot this thread is abt shooting agua (drag)

A little too saturated for me, and this is coming from someone who likes his saturation :p

was flashed used? seems abit harsh if not to others is saturated. I like the picture alot too which shows the expression and strain in the muscles.. =)

love the composition. how often can u get pics like these. i always have problems getting people to imagine that im nt there taking the pics, cos they'd get all uncomfortable when i ask them ( i always think its polite to do so)

saturation a little over done though i feel. that man (foreground) looks like he just had a fake tan!

Hi Everyone,

Really appreciate that you have drop by to leave your comments. Thank You.

Yes, I did fire the Flash to expose the man on the foreground (main subject). In fact I did not increase the saturation. This man is really very Tan.

I have adjusted the curve and sharpen the image.

Have a great Evening ahead :)

Some space to the left for the man to drag into will enhance the pic.

the skin texture is akin to something called the Dragan effect - very contrasty and very textured - wont work on all types of skin - but looks great in this instance; perhaps it is just natural: the man's face is very contrasty and vety textured after years working at sea.

The other thing is the sky - the clouds are rather flat. This is due to the flattening out of the S-curve in the highlights. Some blending and masking will help this, if you know how to do it, or maybe a more complex but very precise curve than an S may also work. Maybe the next flickr meetup can tell you how to do that.

Hi Espion, thank you for the tips. This is especially helpful. Hope to see you at the Flickr meet up and learn more from you ;)
