Thxs:dunno:

take a camera, ask the two stand together, then you point, focus and shoot.

how hard can that be?

Well, position the bride in front of the groom... and also at an angle. These would be more of optical illusions to cover up... Try different poses and ideas..

some suggestions;

1. when the couple poses together, make the bride look as "wide" as possible e.g. by fluffing out her gown, by holding her arms apart. make the groom look as "narrow" as possible e.g. by holding his arms/hands together and standing as straight and tall as possible.

2. take lots of head shots / upper body shots of the couple so the disparity in overall body size is minimized.

3. find the angles that are most flattering to the couple and concentrate on using them.

4. get the couple to smile a lot and look really really happy and loving. the emotions/expressions of the couple in the photo will draw the viewer's attention away from body size comparison.

i think the above are some very Experienced suggestions ... and you should try them out.

In situations like these, you will need to think visually and play with the poses in your mind before the shoot already. (means need to prepare and do home work.) go thru past works of other photogs in similiar situaitons like this if you can get your hands on them ... other wise just be creative.

i have no idea of how relative is your SKINNY and FAT to my impression... i will just assume like 12 months pregnant type of fat and a anorexic skinny. with such contrast... you have to work with your subjects to bear with some form of pain for your fat groom. do what you need to make him look good .. if it means fresh wrap his tummy on photo shoot days.... try and shoot the groom more on the side... and use the bride to shield the tummy.. (do this with tact... brittle egos around) twisting the upper torso of the groom will give him a V shape impression. (and you shield the other body parts accordingly with the bride or accessories)

i assume the bride will be in traditional gown.. which means she will be bearing skin and make her look MORE skinny.... unless otherwise (if she is briliant enough to have a stylist telling her not to do so) like what Zaren said ... play with their costumes.... use accessories. like hand folded type of fan... or dried twigs... coconut leaves.. Scarfs....HHAHAH what ever works ... change the body shape and makes her look big... put her arms beside her body makes her look wide... take frontal shots of the bride... as much as you can.... side perspectives makes her look skinnier... tell her hair stylist to give her big hair... cindy crawford type ..

use furniture to aid you.... hide the fat butt behind the sofa and put the dainty lady in front.. let him lean over the top onto her neck.....something like that..

well my point is to be creative :) talk to your clients and see how far they are willing to go thru this with you ... but if they are ok to live with their body on the wedding photo.... then maybe you shouldnt worry at alll :) it may turn out well when you amplify the contrast... and make it a candid moment... :) they are going to live with each other for the rest of their living years... (assuming they would :p) then acceptance is key... and if that message is delivered in the photos ... all the guest will be proud of their confidance and courage shinning from your photos... Imagine this fat butt with an icecream drippin in his TUX looking goofed and the bride beside looking pretty dainty and happy.... now isnt that true acceptance that represented this holy matrimony

:) your thoughtfulness will be appreciated by them.. talk to the happy folks more before you decide for them :)

have fun while you are at it

cheers ! to another MARRIED couple......(when will this ever end)

if all else fails.... i can recommend you a liposuction surgeon :p

They are like TCS actress Xiao Ling and Moses Lim... ... Girl quite tall and guy quite short...

Thanks for all the suggestion...

No malice intended. But do ask the couple to engage a professional wedding photographer. If you are the one, then you should spend more time learning the craft first. If you find this too blunt to take, please ignore my post.
