Picture was taken in Lori Loft of Jurong Birdpark. I wanted to show interaction between the two birds, rather than taking shots of single birds flying or sitting around.

One thing I do not like about this shot is that the birds are very much photographer-aware. But these birds can be hardly called shy and easily interact with the visitors. So it was a challenge not to attract their attention while not having the right lens or camera and, hence, having to shoot from a rather close distance.

Nice shot, except the background is way too busy and cluttered. If you wre able to open up the apeture more, you would have a winner here.

I think that's a bit hard for him. From his signature can see that he was using a compact. Hard to get shallower DOF.

Well, limitations of a compact camera, but work ard that and shoot more man!

Since background is cluttered and the compact makes it difficult to achieve shallow DOF, why not get closer to the subject to reduce the clutter?

Post processing may still save the shot... do some selection with a lil feathering and then blur out the rest of the BG.... it can help...

but i think ok, depends on whether u are processing it for web or print.

i would suggest a tighter crop, or blurred background.
