Age catching up with him, coupled with the injuries that laid him off for quite sometime, I doubt he is as good as when he was with Liverpool.

Owen has one, and perhaps only one, trick up his sleeve...his sudden burst of speed. i guess he has to play more intelligently now to run into spaces. but eagerly waiting for his comeback!

Let see how he perform in the last few games for newcastle.

owen ? not owen hargreaves? he is not an intelligent player. nt good enuff for man utd ,
he is small size , weak in dribbling / shooting , poor in 1 to 1 situations , he doesn't know how to fake defenders, that is only one good thing about him , he pick up speed is faster by a bit.

As a newcastle fan I would swap him for crouch and some spare change:bsmilie:

With Fowler leaving and Bellamy not really on form I don't think liverpool can afford to let a 15 - 20 goal a season striker like Crouch go.If he comes to newcastle he can form a good partnership with Owen and/or Martins.As for Owen I don't think he will leave this season especially to Man Utd. Man Utd have their eyes set on the other Owen and might get Defoe to boost their striking options.

:bsmilie: :bsmilie: glenn roeder wants him to stay and report sick! getting paid big $$ and staying home watching the telly! class act! :thumbsup:

At least when he play he average a goal every other game.Anyway this season almost the whole newcastle team also report sick:bsmilie:

Most exciting team in the Premier league. One season fighting for European place next season fight relegation.:bsmilie:

Next season if Owen stay confirm top 6 in the league and reach FA cup final one.Then will kena whack 6-0 in the FA cup final because all the first team players injured in the semis:bigeyes:

owen = one trick pony.

If you follow his career, you will realise it. When he's with Liverpool, whenever he plays, liverpool dont play well. Why? Becos they just sit back and try to feed him ball thru middle to score.

I'm not saying he's no good but he's too 1-dimensional. I recall Glenn Hoddle saying the same of him when Glenn was England Manager. If you talk about finishing and scoring instinct, he's above average. I think Fowler is better than him. Owen is more reliant on pace.

With his injuries and age. I fail to see he will be better than Martens to be honest. For England, he will probably be pretty good though, with Crouch and Rooney more into creating chances. With Newcastle, he will probably be chasing same ball as Martens.

Actually he can play in the same team as martins if a pulls the centre backs wide giving martins space to exploit.Martins is probably the fastest footballer when he hits his stride but has a very poor first touch.

Glenn Roeder wants to play 3 up front next season and ironically I think this will work better against the big teams because they will play with less defenders and will try to man mark Owen because of his reputation.

they should have axed him out of England squad long time ago...he's a one time striker.
