This photo was taken at a road recess which is located along a long road that runs alongside the airport runway (the one that leads to Changi Village... can't remember the road name :embrass: ). I used Photoshop to do some cropping, turned it into b&w and brought back the colour of the airport building and control tower. The contrast of the final picture was boosted with Curve.

I retained the color of the buildings to show the forever operation of the airport, which has never and will never change. The b&w foreground represents a memory of a great moment in life that had happened once upon a time. Personally I think the mixed colour presentation has given this picture a more powerful visual impact than a full-colour or pure-grayscale representation.

What do you think about this picutre? it's colour, composition, the mood, etc...
I welcome any positive or negative but contructive critics! :)

feel that ur pic will have more impact if juz only the control tower was lighted..
and also dun quite understand abt the two pple in the foreground.. how does this have to do wif the airport in continuous operation?

Not sure what you've done to your control tower, but it seems to be incomplete on my screen.

I like the idea , because it has the feel of "looking in from the outside", if that's what you intended it to convey. Don't really like how the colored airport area is not quite sharp though.

And yes, I have to agree with nysheng that the people are a bit out of context, probably not a good moment to take the photo, they seem more engrossed in each other than the coloured scene you have PP'ed out.

Thanks for the idea :)

The original intention of the photo is to capture the good picnic moment by the airport runway in the midnight. I felt that picnic in the midnight while admiring the beautiful airport from behind a double-fence is something people rarely do. It could be a rare moment that might not happen again (just my feeling). Hence I use mixed colour presentation in this photo, with full colour depicting 'continuous' and b&w depicting 'history'.

There was a double-fence in front of the 2 persons. The 'missing' parts of the control tower could be partially blocked by the overlapped fences. I've checked the original photo which also shows an 'incomplete' tower.

I used f9 and 2sec exposure. Focusing was on the 2 persons. The airport building was very far from them. I guess that is the reason why the building was not sharp.

As explained in my reply to nysheng, the original intention was to show the good picnic moment... hence maybe the colour buildings are out of context ???
