Somewhere in this creation
All,

I am starting yet another thread on the moon. Planning to shoot the moon during its different phases and will post the photos here. Initially, I thought I would open a thread in the Photo a Day section, but then I thought I will get more focussed attention in this section. Hope you all don't mind.

Please provide your critique - both good and bad, so that I can improve in photographing the moon. Thanks a lot.

I have a Canon 30D and this photograph was shot with a Canon 100-400mm lens at 400mm focal length. I've included other details in the photograph itself.

My impression of this photograph is that it was too soft. So, I sharpened it a bit in PS. The image itself is a cropped version of the original.

wow.. nice man..
pretty darn sharp..
mine sharing what USM settings u used?

erm in my opinion, pics of the moon are normally quite the same so yea cant provide any critqiue on yea..
but i the sharpness and magnificiation of it.

Where's the other half??

Nice... I'm surprised the shutter speed was so slow though. In my previous moon shots, I found anything less than 1/250 (400mm with a 1.4 and 2x TCs slapped on) had motion blur... moon moves pretty quick at that focal length.

very nice pic...almost eerie and like ur in a space ship. my moon shots are pathetic but i like the subject too. are u on top of a high rise to gain even more proximity over & above 400mm thru ur lens?

Love to see more of your collection and learn...

i shot several frames today (rather late last night), experimenting with different apertures and shutter speed combi. i got the clearest shot at f/16 1/4 second !!!

i shot one at 1/40 it was ok. using a 500mm focal length telescope (no motor driven) with a 25mm eyepiece for eyepiece projection.
