Advice on Epson V700

Hi there.

I bought a V700 Epson scanner.

Based on the users out there, would you recommend to scan the MF slides and send it to colour labs for print or just get the prints direct from the MF slides?

If I send it to the colour labs, is 48 Bit colour scanning really necessary and what DPI setting should I use for a 8R or 10R print size?

Oh, is it better to scan a low DPI but chose a bigger output size or scan in high DPI setting with original output size?

As long as your printing dpi is 280 and above, our human will not be able to see ther resolved difference. Thus, e.g 8R=8"x10". Thus ur scanning resolution should be at least 10"x300dpi=3000dpi.

As for photo lab, you may wanna find out what machine they are using to scan your MF before you decide you do the scanning or they do the scanning.

But for achival purpose (in future, you may wanna print bigger), use the best resolution that the scanner can support, thus it is 6400dpi film scanning.

48-bit is higher bit depth (digital processing point of view, more inforamtion can be extracted). But take note that the file size will be huge.

The output size is software manipulation. If you know how to do it in your PS or printing workflow, it is better that u scan at originial output size. (e.g 6400dpi, 100&#37

I'm thinking of getting this also to scan my 35mm and 120mm slides/negatives.... read some good reviews about it and just found out abt the price at Challenger today...

juz to add, u can scan large format too besides 35mm and medium format.
