Sengkang
Hi guys and gals,

Where can I develop good quality 4R photos?
I'm staying in Sengkang. Found out about this place called KT in chinatown. Just wondering if there is any nearer my place that is just as good. Thanks for helping.

I get mine done at this place at Stamford House. I think it is called "Beautiful Memories". Good service, but a little pricey.

50cent per peice izit?

Immediate service, as in less than 10 minutes, $1 per piece. I think it's 0.50 cents for half and hour service.

Sorry, should be 50 cents, or $0.50 - just for clarity.

I like the prints from Beautiful Memories. If I intend to frame up a photo, I'll definitely go there to develop my photos. For larger quantities, I'll go to Colourlab at Adelphi. For even larger quantities or for friends, I'll go to Grace Digital at Sunset Way.

Before you send in the photos for developing, do you use your software to process your photos first or can we ask the shop to assist? Thanks.

I usually do my own PP, because "nice" is very subjective, and I would not always agree with the printer's choices. This is especially if I am doing photo-journalistic type shoots or travel photography. The printer would not have been at the scene, and would not know what mood you intend to create or capture. Unless you are sitting next to him or her and giving directions when doing PP of course!

Saying that however, I find the guy at Beautiful Memories general very fast and good with PP. He has a great eye and usually knows what to tweak to bring the best out of the photo. Like kelccm, I normally only print my large prints there - i.e. 5R and above. They do a wonderful job. I would have no problem letting them handle my PP 90% of the time if I don't have time back home to handle my own.

I will always process my photos 1st before sending it for prints. But you must remember to tell the photo lab not to do any processing. Or if you're lazy, all labs will do some automated processing before printing.

If you are fussy, don't go to those cheap neighbourhood photo lab. They will still put your digital photos through their automated processing before printing even if you tell them not to. I have tried a couple, and they always turn out with some colour cast. Now I'll just patronise the few recommended photo labs.
