Got the shockest shock in my life...
Was walking to YIH from CFA studio area (for those who noe the campus well)
at about 1.45pm with my friend.
Kinda opened aired with a few short buildings and trees around.
along the way we saw the first lightning and then a few seconds later thunder...
din think much about this though we could hear the discharging sound of the lightning.

Suddenly when we were near the CFA studio building a lightning split to two and struck some distance in front of us (i believe) and thunder was simultaneous with the lightning strike.
*stunned*

anyone got a similar experience?

yup,6 mths back i have a similar experience.

a lightning struck me and i got my D2Xs.:bsmilie:

You are very lucky!

I was in the arts canteen and lightning struck on the roof. Those few people around me including me felt a small 'shock' The lightning must have earthed near us...

The scary part was my laptop was plugged in to the socket. Lucky it tripped the circuit breaker first..

Yeah lor..lucky you are still here too talk with us, brother....

by e way, she's a sister.. haha.. aniwae, i was that lucky fren of hers.. :D
it was a reali shockin experience.. e lightnin was so bright, i tot someone was takin my photo.. :bsmilie:

the reaons why you were unharmed is because all of you only either:

1. Had only one foot on the ground that instant.
2. The loci of the point equidistant from both your feet intersected with the point of lighting strike.

if both your feet were on the ground that instant, and both feet were collinear with the point of lightning strike......................woah.................... beep bo beep bo beep bo.....................

Light travels instantaneously, while sound travels at 330m/s. So if you're far away from the lightning area, you can time how many seconds before you hear the thunder. Every 3sec is about 1km away. Since you're metres from the lightning, of course you'll hear the thunder almost at the same time!

At first I thought you've captured a frame of the lightning in NUS.

light don't travel instantanously. it travels at 299792458 metres per second.

hee hee, which is effecively instantanous.;p

Anyone managed to mount tripod and capture the lightning with bulb mode exposure

no liao. me waiting for NS, haven't even touched uni yet.
