:( Hi guys,

just went for dinner with my hubby and we took the car for a wash at the Esso station along West Coast Road. While waiting, I popped into the minimart to buy bread and then must have dropped my mobile phone while paying for my purchases. I didn't realised it until we drove off. My hubby tried to dial my number, a Malay girl picked up and then hung up immediately. Subsequently, the phone was switched off and channelled to voicemail. We went back to the station but the cashiers claimed they did not see/find anything...

My mobile phone is Nokia 7390 and I barely used it for 3 months...very heartpain and disappointed with myself for being so careless...Do you think I'll ever get it back? Can I expect some good samaritans to display some honesty and return me my phone? All my contacts my inside and I've no means to retrieve them ever again... Moreover, I'm pregnant and my doc's mobile number is also stored inside and it won't be another 3 weeks before I see him again...Sigh.

So sad...

Sorry to hear that...

Better suspend the phone line before tons of phone bill from overseas calls.

Vinzlee,

thanks for advice. Already called Starhub to suspend the line since the lady refused to pick up our calls and we're certain it is in someone else's hands...:embrass: Also sent an sms to my phone appealing to the person to return it to me...do you think it'll work? :(

I hate to burst your bubble but it is more than certain that your mobile phone is gone for good. If a kind samaritan picked up your phone, he/she would not have switched off your phone, hoping the rightful owner would call back.

I had my mobile phone picked out of a sidepocket in my bag in June '04. Exact same thing happened.. When I dialed my number, it was already switched off and got diverted to voicemail.

Only thing you can do is pick up the pieces and move on..

Dear CityofAngels,

how I wish our city is as your nick describes. I guessed just as much that my phone's gone for good. My sister just told me she had her bad slit and mobile phone stolen in a crowded shopping centre! I think if I had dropped my phone in a taxi, the chances of retrieving it would be higher...sigh...so much for moral education and we have no integrity nor honesty when we are put to the test...how sad :(

I agree with you on the moral education bit. S'pore may be not be a 3rd World Nation, but in moral education/integrity/honesty/basically-wherever-it-really-counts-the-most, you can say our country is still in its developing stages.

Like what Static has mentioned, the only thing you can do now is to look forward to a new phone. It would be good to back-up all your contacts on a computer every once in a while, so it does not make the heartache of losing a mobile phone so painful.

My empathy...

If I were you, I would do two things:

1. Cancel the line with your service provide, which you've already done.
2. Report lost to the police. You won't know when your mobile will land up with some terrorist for bomb planting.

The latter may sound ridiculous but true. You may consult your ISP to see if they can track down the IMEI of the phone and subsequently catch the culprit.

Good luck and take care.

My empathy .. I lost Nokia 8910 before ..then my Nokia 8850 also missing after 4 years ..

haha i am quite the wicked! I think you should go back to the petrol station and ask to see the video! most stations have video taped the whole place. I am sure it will scare the **** out of that person, even if u don't get ur phone back! :)

chances are relatively low !! unless u happen to meet nice fellow ..

Agree. It's not a wicked idea. It's what she should do! Make a police report and get the police to do the job.

Me too... Lost my phone yesterday.:bheart:

I heard when we report loss can get $100 discount when buying new phone. Is it right?

I also heard in the news, we can block the phone thru satelite when was stolen. But when check with service provider, they say service not available.

Hi all

my hubby just came back from lodging a police report at the Clementi Police Station. Apparantly, when we told them about the CCTV footage, they say they are not authorised to view it unless it is a crime AKA the phone was snatched away from me. Never mind, I'll try calling the petrol station tomorrow to check with the station manager if they are kind enough to let me view the footage in private. Somehow, I was so gullible to even pray earnestly to God that some kind souls will return the phone to me cos if it was me who picked up someone's phone or wallet, I'll definitely return it to its rightful owner (and I've done that before!) but I guess, our moral standards are far from being '1st world'...

Silence sky, have you made the police report yet? Where did you lose yours?

CityofAngels - any idea how to backup our mobile phone contacts onto our computer?

John - thanks for the website. Will go register my IMEI after this post...

Sigh...wish I wasn't so careless, drop until I don't know...

Call up the petrol kisok and kick up a big fuss with the manager!
if that don't work.... call their corporate customer services!!! ;p

Tell them that when an object was taken away from oneself without permission, it's as good as crime. What logic is that?

Look at the positive side, take it as an excuse to pamper yourself with a new phone! :bsmilie:
