Any Pentax body roadmap?

The fisheye zoom that's been invading my recent dreams just started bringing a companion....
The K10D....
Before I jump right in, did Pentax release a roadmap for bodies like they did for lenses?
Are they going to have a new body anytime soon?

PS - How much would a condition 9, second hand *ist DL body sell for these days?

I suggest upgrade K10D cause pentax tends to drag a little on its release. Like the K10D, it takes a couple months more. So end this year maybe next year then release.

i think there was talkof the k1d long before the k10d was even mentioned.

i think it may be some time yet...
they'll probably do a 'variation on a theme' based around features or subfeatures of the k10d, which must surely have been a great success for pentax.

If you need any features which are available on current bodies, then upgrade now.

It's usually not necessary to have the latest and greatest BODY to take good photographs (although there are obvious exceptions, e.g. unlimited shooting or lens focal lengths)

You guys were talking about the new camera coming out this year, does that means that the current 2 camera K100D and K10D price will drop?

I am quite new in this hobby, thus hope to know more before going into a "brand" for long term commitment

I am very attracted into the K100D as it meet my budget.

Can anyone give me some comments whether it is advisable to go into it now or should wait for a longer period of time ?

If remember correctly, when K10D near release, K100D drop by $100-200. Pentax provide international warranty, but make sure you confirm with the seller/shop if they can give you international warranty.

you'll always have to balance between lost time shooting and lost of $$$.

Buy now and who knows by end of the year a K200D or a K20D or a K1D will be out and prices for the K100D/K10D will drop.

Wait and speculate and all your time will be wasted waiting and speculating while you can be out there shooting.

BUT so far hor... nothing solid about the K1D yet but you'll never know.

And between the K100D and K10D, if I were to ever do it again, I'd grab the K10D for a couple of hundreds more.

As long they are authorised pentax dealer, they should be able to help you convert the warranty to international. IMHO I think dual kit will be sufficient for you since you are on budget. 18-55mm kit is a usuable kit especially on K100D (6MP), and 50-200mm is a quality lens at a great price. The cheapest k100d dual kit I found that'll ship to Singapore is the url below. The shipping I last heard is 105 CAD.

It still is 105 cad. Quite a good deal IMHO, savings around SGd 200++

US prices maybe cheaper after mail in rebate (if it's still available), but it also means you need someone in US to do it for u. Also make sure that seller/shop u buying from is Pentax dealer.
