La La Land
I recently got myself a 70L Digi-Cabi drycase. It's my first time using a drycase.

What I want to know is:

1. What's the ideal humidity level in %?
2. If the humidity level gets too low, will plastic/rubber parts of the camera crack?
3. Are batteries safe in the drycase?

Anyone using this case out there? Need your advise.

in the user manual, there should be a recommended setting.
general rule of thumb would be at 50%, but set it between 30%-40% as the measurement is seldom correct.

therotically it would crack, but you are going to open the cupboard at times, so no worries about it.

batteries are safe

Read the manual come with the dry cab. It is 40-50%RH for optic.

Regards,
Arto.

My manual says 45-55% so I set it to 50% and it'll hoover around 48-52%. If it's too dry, the plastic will crack and the rubber will start to feel sticky. So around 50% should be ideal.

mine keeps on hovering at 28%... don't know why.

Which series did you get? But I'm guessing that you didn't get the DHC series right? If that's the case then you'd have to adjust / fine tune the power of the dehumidifier unit until it stabilizes probably around 50%.

Now it might be set at high power or something.
Or are you're using it in an airconditioned room?

1) i set mine about 40-45%...
2) some materials will crack if u set it like 10-30%.. but at 40-50% it should be fine...
3) i put my batteries in the dry cab too.. so that i don't have to search different places for all my camera stuff... so far so good....

batteries are fine so far at least. 45-55% for camera.

What other stuff do you guys store in your cab?

45 - 55 for me. I put a analogue in side my digicabi to have two readings. so more accurate.

For me,

I stick to 40% to 45%...

Any idea how much is an external hydrometer and get from where?

oh.. i unscrew from the free DIGI box that come with the purchase of the 60L DIGICABI.Since i have no use for the box, and the hydrometer can be easily removed. I paste it beside the digital. kekeke

wow... cool!!! very innovative... i never thought of that...

but why i buy my digicabi 60L last weekend from carrefour, they never give me the box =_= dam it

i've set mine at 54/55% at the moment, at 50% the grip on some of my less-used lenses were starting to turn whitish, especially those parked nearer to the dehumidifying unit (or whatever its called).

Oh Carrefour like did not give the freebies. I ordered by phone from digicabi. They gave out the same freebies at the PC show tho. keke.

Did you clean them first. That's the salt from your sweat... Clean the camera with a damp cloth and then dry it off with a dry cloth before you keep them.... ;)

eh... i don't have sweaty palms or fingers... :bsmilie: and no, some of these lenses were cleaned before. also the whitish residue was not from dried sweat, it was even around the grip, and looked like the rubber was starting to dry up and crack. irreversible, so not sweat leh... only sweat is how much it'll cost to replace the grips when these things crack and fall off..*sigh*

I set my AD070 at RH47%, so its usually hovering at 45~50%...

I got mine AD80 from Carrefour and they did give me the dry box free. U should call them up and check with them.
