As the title indicates, do u think the PS3 is the hottest gadget at the moment? Compared to other technological gadgets like cameras(digicam and dslr), mp3 players etc.. I personally feel that this is the hottest gadget that has come out since the start of 2007(local release). I am blown away by the graphics and all the built-in whistles though I might not get it soon coz dun really have time to play games at home nowadays.. But I feel for $799, the package is very enticing.

Compared to the Dslr and compact cams market which doesnt really have any exciting releases, the gaming market is booming(Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, PSP and Nintendo DS).. One of my frenz who is in the photography line commented to me that the photography/camera market is slowly becoming lukewarm and I think it holds some truth.. Even for IT Show 2007, the main focus for the media and most ppl is the PS3 and not Canon, Nikon etc..

After PS3 will be the local release of Nintendo Wii which I reckon will generate a very warm reception in gaming too.. This is just my personal opinion, but I think that gaming in general will be the hottest thing in 2007 and photography will slowly cool down. I welcome anyone to share your thoughts, there is no right or wrong so let your views fly!:)

I feel that Wifi online gaming is most probably the trend for console/handheld gaming in the future.. Xbox360, PS3 and Wii all have it and even the current PSP and Nintendo DS are riding on it..

For arcade, one of the most popular games that is generating alot of interest from ppl is Sangokushi Taisen(The card-based Romance of the 3 Kingdom game)..

the graphics really makes me very interested in getting one set , but i think the most attractive part is still the online gaming . looks like PS3 will be dominating the gaming industry for the next 5 years.

PS3 will do well especially when the really good games come out and the Wii will do expecially well for families with younger kids and for family play in general.

My exact sentiments.. When games like Metal Gear Solid 4, FFXIII comes out, the PS3 will slip into the No 1 choice for gamers.. Nintendo Wii will also secure a strong position with its library of fun and innovative games..

PSP is still a choice for many. PS3 has execellant gfx but not sure how many ppls will swear by it. i swore by my ps2 for years when i bought it at 1.3k++ about 7-8yrs ago. gaming is too general i suppose, every games but which consoles and not everyone who buys dslr are really crazy bout it ;p

I cant wait for Tekken to come out.
The preview looks awesome.

The nice thing about the PS/3 is that it also give you a HD Bluray DVD player to play on your new Plasma/LCD HD tv.

saw Vitura Fighter 5 graphics recently .. 5 stars!!

Ya I agreed PSP is a cool device.. Looks cool and has great graphics and multimedia capabilities.. But somehow I still prefer my Nintendo DS..;p

My PS2 has served me loyally for 5 years liao, gave me alot of fun times.. I am looking forward to getting the PS3.. Actually awhile back I am starting to think gaming is not for ppl my age liao, but now I feel that gaming is still a healthy hobby which lets u release steam/stress from work, and also have fun!:)

I feel that alot of ppl nowadays who buy Dslr is following the trend.. After u buy a Dslr, most will be infected by BBB and keep wanting to get better and more accessories eg. flash, lenses.. And I m sure alot of us here wun deny, many ppl just buy lenses, flashes etc without really thinking and ended up not utilising the stuffs.. At least getting a console is cheaper than photography.. BBB for gaming cannot compared to BBB for photography..

Haha anyway this is my 2 cents of views..

No xbox360 in the poll??

Is it true that Sony removed the e-motion chip from the PS3 and then used software emulation instead??:dunno:

for me, i don't understand how can the gaming industry con so many people into buying games. $69.90 for a game is a big amount for me, the worst thing is that people who can afford to buy legal software are usually the very rich. i hate to think of the hardship poor parents have to go thru to suffer the BBB pleas for kids.

$69.90 for winning eleven 9 to winning eleven 10 is just ridiclous!
games developers are laughing all the way to the bank! I am not supporting illegal software, but prices have to drop!

for me, i always buy preowned.. ;p

Ya I do agreed that the price for a game is still considered abit high.. But I guess you have to factor in the R&D and development processes these game developers went through to push out the games for us.. I am sure games like Metal Gear Solid and the FF series development costs are astronomical.

I don't support piracy nor do I think $69 for a game is justifiable. Thats y same like you, I buy preowned games most of the time..;p

Judging from the 27 votes cast so far, majority thinks Nintendo Wii will be the hottest gadget/trend this yr followed by PS3, gaming in general and lastly photography.. I will guess most here share the same sentiments as me, that gaming particularly Wii and PS3 will be the BIG thing in 2007.

I definitely feel that a $799 60GB PS3 is a more worth it gadget(in terms of price and the functions it offers) than any Dslrs/Digicams out there..

Not true lah... different ppl will have different opinion.

my gf say going to sponsor me 1/2 for my PS3... should i take the bait or ask her to buy a Wii for me instead... and i get my PS3 later...

I don't know how gaming got mixed in with photography. They attract different crowds altogether and are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
Anyway, gaming has been around for decades and the PS3 isn't going to change the landscape. It's just a predicted upgrade.
The Wii is interesting, because of it's potential to pull more people who don't normally play console games into gaming.

PS3 doesnt have an equivalent to xbox live... so im really not sure about dominating the industry.. just as there are good games coming out for the PS3, there are also good games coming out for the 360.. e.g. Halo 3.

personally, i would like to see more retro games get ported to new consoles.
